I’ll disagree on the women thing a bit. There are a lot of beautiful women, but the % is low.
It’s an extremely safe city, especially Manhattan.

I do like NYC though, it is for sure a Tier 1 US city, and probably a top tier world city. Now I wouldn't want to live there, but it is a great place to visit.

Greatest has many different meanings to many different people. Your greatest could quite easily be my most revolting. It can also not even be on my radar for greatest depending on what I look for in a city I would deem great. For that matter, there are many people that don’t find big cities a great place to live their lives period.
There are clearly things that NYC does great, but not everyone places value on that which NYC does great to deem it greatest. Additionally, there are many things it doesn’t do great.
It’s all very subjective.

That is what truly makes a city great, whether it advances from the bare definition of concrete, lots of people, museums, etc to the higher, more sublime definition of being a story, a fable, a unique but very real storyworld to visit.

Having been to Rome, New York, Chicago, Paris, London, New Orleans, Athens, Los Angeles, etc, I can say with confidence that San Diego is the greatest city on earth.

I didn’t care much for either city, but that probably had more to do with me being a very well-supervised middle-schooler at the time. I look forward to experiencing some of those cities like Portland, NYC, Paris, London, etc as an adult.

I've never left the country, but I have a hard time believing that there isn't a single city on the planet better than NYC. There is a high amount of bums and beggars on the streets, it's cold as frick most of the time, you can't drive anywhere, people are rude, and everythign is expensive.
I loved visiting NY but I would by no means call it the "greatest city on earth". I would put san diego about NY for sure.

Every international city I have visited is crawling with homeless bums, gutter punks, and gypsies. The only cities that don’t have that are authoritarian places like China and Singapour and places that really control that stuff like Japan and Venice.
