A 4cy Land Crusier just sounds ridiculous.

I looked into getting a Land Cruiser but they all have hybrid engines which is the furthest thing away from simplicity and bullet proof. Would not want to have to deal with those things once the warranty runs out. 4Runner options are also getting worse.

Yeah but how does it sound? Especially when you put the pipes on it?

That 2016 will go 300,000 miles.

You think that gasoline direct injection with turbos hybrid in the 2025 will? I mean, nobody builds a better hybrid than Toyota, but i have doubts.

So what did we decide?

Are the 2025 tundras with the v6 still a good truck? I’m in the market

I guess you could question reliability but it’s Toyota.

Same Toyota that had to recall 100K engines? That reliability?

Lamborghini killed the V10, switched to V8s

Ferrari dropped the V8 in the baby Ferrari (the Roma and Portofino don't count as a baby Ferrari because they are car shaped objects sold to people wanting to get on the list for a real Ferrari). But the 296 with its turbo V6 hybrid powertrain has 816hp, 0-60 in 2.4, runs a mid 9 and traps over 150. Turbos in a performance hybrid configuration give an incredible power curve and flat out perform. If you want a vehicle to run 500k miles with as little repair as possible then a low specific power NA engine will almost always win that fight but if you prefer performance turbos will almost always win especially in a hybrid powertrain.

Fwiw, I love mine. It's a bad arse engine. But I also liked my ecoboost so I don't have a problem with the turbos.

and how are those engines doing? I have a Tundra with the V8. I'm not hating. But Toyota isn't immune to quality issues nor am I convinced that the turbo V6 is the answer to ridiculous EPA standards.

Not a Ford guy, but if I was buying a new half ton truck today it would be a Ford with the 5.0.

And in the GM ones… you can literally listen to them eat your camshaft because of the stupid AFM.

C'mon baw. We all gotta do our part. Word has it that two stroke engines will be a factory option. LOL!

All of this nonsense will go away within a year. Team Trump will let them go full throttle!

Just curious, can you still get a Nissan Frontier with a V-8?

Could you ever get a V8 on. Frontier? Frontiers still have the regular V6. Not sure if it’s an open, but it’s still there.

Yeah engine aside.....I'm a big fan of the styling of the 1794 edition and the TRD Pro model Tundra pickups. They'd be awesome if Toyota figured out the engine and the issues with the cheaper/brittle parts of the interior trim/switchgear. I'm not sure why they are taking so long to work those issues out.

To their credit, Toyota is at least covering the failed engines - including the ones that they did not recall.

Yeah I'd say to try the Lexus GX since you can get it without the hybrid powertrain, but it's reliant on that V35A that's been clogging up Toyota's service departments for quite some time now. Maybe wait a few more years before you pick one up.

My 2021 Silverado had an engine go out at the beginning of this year with 95k miles on it. GM offered to pay for 15% of the $12k repair cost.
