11% of US adults and over one-fifth of Millennials (22%) haven’t heard or are not sure if they have heard of the Holocaust.
Cue the "that's because it never happened" crowd.

The accepted number is 6 million. It’s not a random number, it’s backed up with the meticulous records the Nazis kept, and census type information from Jewish towns and communities.

a)approximate number of casualties in the civil war

b)approximate number of casualties in WWII
60 million, depending on when you think it starts in the Pacific, which that could go up another 10 million if you start it earlier.

c)% of american indians exterminated
97%

d)approximate number of casualties in the spanish inquisition?
I don't know this one.

No didn't think so. So shut up. This is a pointless statistic and is completely irrelevant.
OK, since I don't know the specific numbers of the Spanish Inquisition (something no where near as bad as the Holocaust as far as I'm aware), I can't call you out for being a dummy for not knowing Auschwitz and the Holocaust numbers, something within living memory?

I'm sure we'll need a few more monuments to change that 41% stat
We should make Anne Frank’s diary required reading in middle schools.
Oh we already did that?
Let’s have someone in congress introduce the Never Again act.
Again, this is central to american life.
The Bill of Rights, up for debate.
Holocaust education, MANDATORY.

Me either. The accepted number of dead at the hands of Communism in the 20th Century exceeds 100,000,000 million. 65 million in China alone. The Black Book Of Communism ( written by French Leftist historians) lays it out in irrefutable detail. All most millennials know about Communism is that it has cool T-shirts and maybe we should try it here.

I honestly don't know how this is even possible. WW2 is one of the cornerstones of even basic history classes
We're at the point now where most school kids don't have living relatives that served in WWII. We're also at the point where 9/11 needs to be taught in a history class, as it happened before the kids were born.
It makes sense that WWII would feature less prominently and its knowledge be retained less than in the past. But it's laughable that a group of people who like to call everyone a Nazi is choosing to learn less about the source material.

Perhaps if there were more books, museums, movies, documentaries, news commemorations and tv shows about this subject there would be better recognition?

I work on a college campus, you would be shocked at how little knowledge these young people have. What is worse is they are absolutely not interested in knowing anything.

That’s just so weird that Communism gets a pass from our culture makers while Holocaust history is front and center, even though Communism was far more deadly in the same era. One of those mysteries of modern life.

There was a great movie made in the 70's or 80's? That version sucked. Let's make a reboot with a more diverse cast.
WWII? Pfffft. That was long ago. Let the old farts talk about it. We only want to learn history of stuff that's happened recently.

Taking a wild guess without looking, but is it near the Danzig corridor in Poland? Or further east?
It’s in southern Poland not too far north of the border with Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Yeah man, all those reboots directed by 20 year old millennial directors and young hollywood execs. Don’t you old fricks realize it’s your generation pushing these acts?

TBH it's hilarious that this thread is full of 'muh boomers' or 'muh millenials', as if that has ever been a productive or insightful discussion on here in that regard. But I suppose it's fun to create a sense of superiority or resentment.

I was thinking of re-posting this, just to see how many "Germans" responses I would see.
