Been with my family as a teenager and the wife in 2004. There were multiple classes on field trips taking notes or answering questions.

Lest we forget.

No clue, but I'm pretty sure it's still used in school. Despite anyone's opinion on it's legitimacy, it should still serve to educate people on the holocaust

It's about starting a conversation

Oddly enough, I find WWI far more interesting.

I find WWI more interesting from a realpolitik standpoint for sure. A lot of moving parts there. I find WWII vastly more interesting from a military, tactical standpoint.

I just read about Seelow Heights on wiki, that seemed interesting, but I wasn’t seeing a lot of armor action on it.

Seems to me like the quality of K-12 education has dropped tremendously. I guess there must not be any questions about the Holocaust on the ACT/SAT, so schools just stop teaching about it

While approximately six million Jews were exterminated in the Holocaust, nearly one-third of all Americans (31%) and over four-in-ten Millennials (41%) believe that two million Jews or less were killed during the Holocaust.

Does it really matter if it was 2 million or 6 million? Does 2 million make it ok?

Thinking that it was 2 million should make every single person come to the same conclusions as if they thought it was 6 million

What a pointless question

I'd bet the same people would guess 100k Russians died (or maybe wouldn't even know Russia fought)

I’m genuinely confused as to where the 66% comes from outside of guessing he added 22% and 41% and somehow got 66%.

Admittedly I only skimmed the link, but I didn’t see it.

That's pretty sad a CPO selectee knew nothing about the Siege and Battle of Yorktown, the decisive battle of The Revolutionary War.

What's even sadder is she was stationed at Yorktown Weapons Station!

It’s no surprise to me that people these days don’t know their history.

Any time a person says they want to study history, the first thing they hear is “what kind of job are you going to get studying that?”

Education is about strengthening the mind to take on any task. We need more well-rounded people, and fewer drones.

I don't think it was identify it on a map, but simply not knowing what auschwitz is. I know it is in SW Poland, but not the exact location.

Perhaps, but you would figure that the final battle of our war for independence would have stuck in your head for a while.

I was listening to Ben Shapiro’s podcast and he mentioned Auschwitz being in germany. He of all people should know it’s in present day Poland.
