Obama wouldn't even acknowledge the Armenian genocide

It wasn’t just the Jews who were murdered in the Hoicoust. There were also Gypsies, Slavs, Homosexuals, and other minority groups slaughtered as well. I think the total number was about 11 million if I remember correctly, with 6 million being Jews.

Rememberimg the holocaust, and knowing the exact number of those killed is a Grand Canyon wide difference

I just asked 4 different people in my office. (All gen Xers). They all said a couple million. When asked to narrow it down, I got 2.5, 2, 2, and 4 as their guesses

I am actually surprised how many people got the number correct in the survey

Let's not forget communists. At least there was some benefit.

Why is it so important that people in 2018 be so familiar with it?

Why is it so important we have to learn about slavery or that whites killed 97% of the natives here? That was even longer ago.

If only the war could’ve lasted a little longer on the eastern front, they could’ve killed more of each other.

Pretty pathetic. I feel like I have that 6M number tattooed to the inside of my brain.

Auschwitz question I find more forgivable. A foreign-language name and when it comes down to it, as long as you grasp the basic concept of a WWII concentration camp then you're 90% of the way there in my book.

I highly recommend anyone visiting central Europe to check one out. Very stark and sobering.

That said, many of the most ignorant millennials likely had a grandfather or great grandfather who picked up a rifle and slayed some Huns, at least in part to end this atrocity.

If you really wanna bust balls, do it to German millennials. Their youth should score 100% on these questions for another 100 years at least.

Considering that history courses never even make it to WWII until the year runs out, I'm not surprised.

Just like young Americans should remember all the atrocities committed against indigenous tribes and african slaves.

It's OK...75% of the Political board don't believe the Holocaust happened.

Personally, I want all Frenchmen to know the atrocities they committed against my Saxon ancestors. Ol' Charles le Magne put a bunch of heathens to the pyre and burned down their sacred tree. Where's my recognition?

I went to Dachau in the 1980's....rather interesting that the Germans built a high berm in front of the original "Arbeit Macht Frei" gate...

that was a rough experience for me, and I can only imagine how my then 19 year old father experienced it in 1945...the first war story he ever told me was about the time he pulled guard duty on a train bringing war-criminal "suspects" there as the US Army used the camp post-war to house them and how there was one exceptionally good looking redhead on the train...

We had a CPO selectee who had no idea what Yorktown was or its significance in U.S. history. I thought she was joking until she said she was from California and "they didn't teach that shite."

Count me in that group.

I 100% remembering studying about yorktown in shcool. Roughly 15 years later, I have never once thought about it again nor has it come up in conversation, so I have forgot.

Hell, I have forgotten a ton of shite I have learned.

Oddly enough, I find WWI far more interesting.

Kursk of course is facamating. I’d say though the one that interests me the most was thecGerman’s last stand at Seelow Heights.

That's pretty sad a CPO selectee knew nothing about the Siege and Battle of Yorktown, the decisive battle of The Revolutionary War.
