I remember being told in the fifth grade (circa 1989-90) that New Orleans was supposed to be underwater by now.

Well, if the northshore is going to be beachfront property in 200 years, you’re welcome great-great-great-great-great grandchildren.

Let the Governor know so he can cancel some more restoration projects!

Blow a few holes in the levees at strategic spots and the river will do most of the work for us.

Strong disagreement there, but to your other point, we will always have the MS river for potential land building, if we can us it properly.

Fun fact: much of the Netherlands should have been underwater for a very long time.

Guess all those companies investing and banks loaning on billion dollar facilities all along the coast didn’t get the message

They didn’t, but insurance companies sure did.

Their leadership didn’t cancel some well engineered, brilliant, one of a kind restoration projects with countless benefits because of politics. We had a chance to follow their lead and blew it.

The SW LA coastal marshes aren’t perfect by any means but if you look at time lapse google earth images over the last 40 years, there’s not much significant change over that timeframe.
Look at SE LA over that same timeframe and it’s downright depressing.

One of my friends has been spending her 25 year career on studying and fighting the coastal erosion in Louisiana.

I asked recently when Youngsville would cease to exist and 2070ish was best guess.
