Absolutely, the port is already the largest export port in the country and modernizing our import infrastructure will be enormous for all of the area.
The port of south Louisiana is. Not Port of New Orleans.
Even then it is tonnage and not containers.

Correct, because the infrastructure doesnt exist, which is what that side is arguing.
I dont want to see it built for nostalgia purposes.
I used to practice for all star ball in that baseball park across from the ships down that way.
But its going to be built.
Still need to pull every string as residents to ensure the corridor is built, else shite will go sideways right in the major intersection of the parish

You epitomize the broken mindset of New Orleans.

You have to understand da parish mindset.
We are used to being fricked over by the State AND the Feds and the city

Yeah, this is what’s going to ruin St. Bernard. Sure.
You’d think it was some major dream living there before this development. Lol

Our current method of handing out tax breaks and giving in to every whim has gotten us last place.
Do other states not do what we do?

Full disclosure, I’m kind of “New Orleans” and “Metairie” too…

Not on the level that Louisiana does. Per capita Louisiana usually ranks at or near the top for corporate subsidies.

How are they going to to pay for it? It’s $2.3B and they only have $1.2B

Statistics say that New York, New Jersey, and Louisiana are the top 3 in corporate subsidies. Maybe the previous sarcastic comment about comparing us to Manhattan aren’t far off.

PPP.....
Like the Belle Chasse bridge. That toll bridge worked out well.

Side question for everyone, I was born, raised and lived in Da Parish for 45 years. Never in all that time have I ever gone on vacation, came home, and didn’t ask myself, “Why do I live in St. Bernard/ LA?” What say you?

Idk but they will get it done. Probably not the corridor but for sure the port upgrades
I mean somebody will get paid handsomely to ensure it all comes together on that end.

Thats why. If you asked that question you would have left. Most people dont think about that though; thus, never leave.

You have NOLA on one end and some of the greatest fisheries in the world on the other. Of course that’s not for everyone, but if you are, we’re the place to be

You know the answer. It’s generally always family. I left in ‘98 and moved back in 2021 to be closer to my mom and brother. I was able to cash in on the new build boom in Arabi and get much more house for the money. StB gets a lot of shite but it’s not a bad place to raise a family still.

Correct.

I dont know. STBSO office posted on their Facebook page an attempted robbery on mehle and St Claude last night just after midnight. The safe place and able to still work in NOLA is going out the window.
