Not trying to argue with you bud. Hopefully the bi pass road goes through. All I know is what I have read and heard on WWL. Do you live down there

The state has put out $50 million already just to study the new corridor. They want to put the thing right through protected wetland. It will likely stay hung up in permit hell for decades
Is this that project where if the cost to mitigate would drain every mitigation bank in the state?

Nah, but I know how Louisiana works. That access road is going to be just like the BR loop.
And that Port Nola doesn't pay property tax.
Im for this project but Port Nola fricked it up

New Orleans became a major city because of the Mississippi and trade. Now people don’t think it should be used for it?
These people don’t think they’re part of the New Orleans area

They’re worried St. Bernard people won’t get the jobs… me personally, I don’t care who they hire if they eventually move down here

Ill give St Bernard credit. They have cited out of parish payrolls as reason not to approve ITEP requests

They want to put the thing right through protected wetland. It will likely stay hung up in permit hell for decades. Meanwhile. A very small 2 lane highway will get almost 2000 extra 18 wheelers a day.
Currently, an estimated 1,300 trucks travel to and from Port Fourchon each day. From Highway 90, it’s roughly 50 miles to the port, including approximately 19 miles of elevated highway through wetlands.
The proposed elevated design significantly reduces the corridor’s physical footprint and impacts to surrounding wetlands compared with a conventional at-grade highway
By comparison, trucks serving the LIT terminal would travel only about 12–14 miles from the LA 47/Paris Road area to I-10.
Consider yourself lucky.

However this long term will be huge for St. Bernard.
Ports don’t pay taxes.
Most of the jobs will be automated
Truck drivers can live anywhere
If the road gets built that might help. If and might.

White collar jobs

We don’t have the demographics for those (plus A.I. is coming for them anyhow)

That number seems high.
I have been down there and seen a lot of traffic, but that is about one a minute for 24 hours. .

How much property tax does the state owned facility pay?
0
They say well the private leaseholders will pay property taxes
Until the port buys all the equipment like they did at Napoleon facility

Interesting. I wonder how much propety tax port nola currently pays.
Also zero

The way I look at it is the current port backs up to uptown and operates without anyone really being impacted other then Tchoupitoules traffic. Highest price per sf in Nola with a port right there
Truck traffic goes from 90 directly into the port facility and all the road / rail traffic is behind the walls
If… if the direct connector is built and the Florida Ave rail link is built… this project becomes a lot easier to deal with
But remember how long it took the state to build the new connection to the airport from I-10. Abd this will be 50x more complex and expensive.
