What's troubling to me is that there are so many people in this country that have programmed themselves to, "Go along, to get along." They've already convinced themselves that yes, a smaller place to live is a good thing. Less food is a good thing. Nothing in the refrigerator. Hell, no refrigerator. No A/C. No car. Basically, turning back the clock a few hundred years. Except, you don't even get the nice things from the 1700s.

Does 3 articles of clothing per year include underwear? What about socks? Does a pair count as 2?

Exactly. With the exception of modern medicine, I'd be willing to live in the 1800s and do without a lot of things. At least nobody could commit property crimes against me and get away with it. No tent cities, or bums doing intravenous drugs on the street which also doubles as their latrine. No free stuff for people who aren't legally here.
