The one and only Holy Name of Jesus. Gothic, dark, somber and judgmental. Everything the Jesuits envisioned when they came here in the early 1700s.
Rumor is there is a room off of the Sacristy priests would shoot dice.... and other things.

There’s about a 50 year period of American Catholic Church architecture that’s generally hideous. Thankfully, the last 10-15 years have reverted back to more traditional design.
My opinion is that the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels in LA was the final straw for modernest design.

3 hours from New Orleans but i always liked that church in Cheneyville. Looks like a fortress from Super Mario.

My SO loved the Abbey. She was friends with several of the monks. Her funeral was in the church and she's buried in their cemetery. October 6 will be 21 months.

My first time in this church was for a funeral when I was about 50. I spent the entire time thinking that had I encountered this as a child, Jesus would have terrified me and given me nightmares.
