IDK, my wife is a woman...so I’m sure she drives like rest of them. They don’t specialize in foresight.

There are dealerships and stealer ships-
I have never understood why folks purchase autos that have a reputation of high service repair costs and then complain.
Do you homework before you purchase.
That being said many shops would have done this for under 400- Volvo xc60-- is the first part of your problem.
Labor is not 25 and hour it is more like 125 and hour in a shop- Good techs make six figures now and are in heavy demand.
Buy luxury brands and prepare to pay high costs or buy a vehicle that will be serviced buy many shops and not just the dealer

Wife had a minor recall on her van, brings it in to the dealership. It’s 3 years old with 90k miles. The guy made it sound as if we might as well put a match to it. Rattled off a list of crap to her that HAD to be done immediately or else at 3200 total. I brought in to my guy and all it could use is an alignment. $80 later and she’s on the road again.

I think I would march myself up there and make them give me a credit. For $600, they better have replaced the rotors, pads, lubed up the bearings, and changed out the fluid.

She got the car in the first shipment of the new model, so it was sometime in 09/2017...still a ton of miles.

600 is normal for a luxury vehicle. It is not normal for most other vehicles. Volvo xc60- this is the issue.

I see that after I started this thread to complain. Looks to be average for XC90s...there aren’t enough XC60s needing brakes to get a good feel.

This is why I am glad I know my mechanic.
Took the minivan to him last week, new front brake pads, oil change, had him drain and refill the transmission, drain and refill the radiator, new wiper blades, and change out the headlight bulbs. $268.
My wife insists that I take her car to the dealer while it's still under warranty. Synthetic oil change and tire rotation is $69.99. Whatever, that's not bad. While I was there last they reccomended two new tires (they were right it was about time) and an alignment (probably wasn't needed but whatever). $968. I think I laughed so hard I hurt the poor guy's feelings.

I take my 5 series to an indy...but the software on these new cars is nuts. There’s new shite or different screen looks every time we take it in.

I was told by my mechanic they rarely need to be replaced at once, but people do it to save labor and time. He said the front brakes are usually the only thing that needs to be replaced the first go around.

We can cancel the appt. next week if the rears are fine. May be a blessing they were out of stock.
