I just put drilled and slotted rotors along with new carbon fiber brake pads on my van for $150 last weekend. $600 for brake pads seems a bit high.

My Mercedes has the same thing. Just watch a YouTube video of it to see the right sequence of buttons to push. You can hear them retract. After that it took less than 10 minutes to do each wheel. About 80 bucks for the pads for all four. Yeah, you totally got screwed.

This is her way of getting back at you for having a rockwall in your living room.

Do some of you not have conversations with your wives about these types of things? You just give them free reign to do shite? My wife is smart enough to know what she knows and know what she doesn't know....she calls me when it falls into the category of what she doesn't know. She called me just yesterday while getting an oil change, about the air filter replacement....I said, no...I will do it.

Yeah, we have a rule that we discuss purchases and expenditures over a certain dollar amount beforehand but I'm not always available during the day. This was one of those times.

You could have just said you don’t know much about brake pads or mechanics

My wife’s smart, and she has free reign to make financial decisions...I’ll just do the brakes myself next time. She brings the car in because they do software upgrades at the dealership. The car is totally electronic. I’ll just research in the future when they drop the updates...and if we don’t need to take it in for that we’ll just get it serviced locally.

That’s better than the slack line rack I built and had in the middle of the living room.

Now they don’t have rear pads so she has to bring it back next Friday. Far as frick.

This must be the latest scam at the Volvo dealer. They tried getting my wife as well. Told her she had less than 250 miles till total brake failure.

Go to the dealer and complain, they might throw in a reach-a-round

Just had a tension pulley go out on my ride...

Shop estimate?
Part and labor = ~$550

Bought the pulley for $78 and changed it and redid the belt in less than 30 minutes.

I'm in the wrong profession obviously

Yep. My wife texts me to first see if she even needs whatever it is done, and secondly, to see if I can do it.
