Check dealer websites and get pricing on 2019’s.
See what rebates and incentives are current.
Maybe even line you up some PenFed funding.
Study the Will Cover steps.
Be on the lot by 8:30 Saturday.
The dealers know ain’t nobody going to be buying a vehicle Saturday afternoon of LSU Bama.
I got 37% off (before trade) of MSRP on a truck the morning before the Auburn game plus 3.8% financing.

I'd also take a look at a Subaru Ascent.

I just wish someone still made a 3 row wagon.

Thinking about Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, VW Atlas.
None of these are SUVs. You are in the market for a crossover, not an SUV.

Originally looked for suv with 3rd row and settled on Kia Sedona because the cargo space you have when the 3rd row of suv is up is so small. Bought a year old used Sedona with 40k miles for under $20k.

VW Atlas is impressive. Was at the VW dealership and I had no idea they even existed. Definitely will be looking at those next time the lady needs to new vehicle

I rented a VW Atlas in L.A. and drive that bitch everywhere. It’s a TPOS. The hard starting and the quality reminded me of a Dodge.
I would never own anything Toyota or Honda makes as they are not good quality either just better than VW and Dodge though. I’ve rented a brand new Toyota and it has no tech features compared to other things. It was literally a Stone Age (pre ‘11) feel. I hated it.
I rented a ‘19 Traverse a month later and that quality is insane. Tight, quiet, smooth ride, heated seats, Bluetooth, Car Play, all the extras. There was way more room in it than the VW, Toyota, and Honda. There was way more room in it than our Tahoe and she convinced me to trade it for one. 33K fully loaded leather every conceivable feature on it, blackout package etc.
Side note if you’re not a Chevy person, check out Ford. They’re pretty damn good too. Lots of tech, comfort, etc. but they are closer to 40k.
Would steer clear of the VW. I’m just not a fan of Toyota or Honda. If going Japanese, look at Nissan Pathfinder. Rented that one in Atlanta a few weeks back. It would be a top 5.

Wait until late December and try to get an outgoing 2019 before the 2020s come in?
I did this for a Silverado and got a really good deal.

We have a 4Runner with the third row. When the third row is up, you won’t store much if anything between it and the rear door.

Maybe things have changed , but all my life, at least for the last 30 or 35 years, the next year’s models have traditionally come out in Sept or Oct of the prior year... is that not the case anymore?

VW atlas has a huge amount of room on the interior if that is what is driving the purchase... you can get one cpo’d in the 25-30 range with 20-30k miles

I have a 2019 Traverse. We love it. One of the few vehicles I looked at that had leg room for someone 6'3" . Great ride, handling, and comfort. To each his own....
