Heading to Teton over Labor Day. Not sure what to expect because it is a holiday but school has started in many places.

There are plenty of parks you can go to if you want remoteness. Saying that, early morning/late in the day are the best times to visit parks.

Finished up a trip to Grand Tetons/Yellowstone and this shite is ridiculous.

We went in early June...it was awesome and not crowded at all. Only place where there was an issue was at one particular spot in the Tetons, and we just found an alterative hike.

BTW, were Asian tourists still trying to get mauled by Bison, 'cause that shite was HI-LARIOUS back in June.

Absolutely. Big Bend is on my list. Just tent camped the Buffalo River last Spring.

North Cascades is fairly open and has incredible hiking too Even the lesser known Canadian Parks like Yoho and Kootenay just across the border

"People need to put down the phone, get off their asses, and get outside."

"Why the hell are all these people outside in my way?!?!"

Here's a tip for ya:
Don't go to a national park tomorrow. All of them have free entry tomorrow.

Yellowstone/ grand Teton are the Disney worlds of NPs. You DO NOT go to those two parks in the summer. Late Spring and early fall are the times to go.

Best way to see Yellowstone is to go around March and on snowmobile. It’s basically like having the park all to yourself.

Have heard horror stories of Zion and Yosemite as well

Did Zion and Bryce in late April 2022 and it was fine. Even caught some light snow in Bryce.

Middle of summer is gonna' be crowded.

They should give first dibs to US citizens. Let non citizens in when the park isn't as busy.

I remember a time in life that you didn't need to make reservations to camp in a state park... Now you can't camp in one unless you do...

People rediscovered that our national parks are amazing during COVID and now they are completely overrun. Pretty much have to go during the fall or spring.

There were a ton of Indians in Yellowstone. Tetons was a bit better but we rolled up to Delta Lake trailhead (Lupine Meadows) at 6:30am and the parking lot was almost full. Like what

I'm guessing this works because California schools and East Coast schools are still in session. If you can get a trip between Memorial Day and about June 10, you're in good shape.

Get a half mile from the road in practically any national park and you have it all to yourself.

So you were surprised that Yellowstone was crowded during the summer?

You must only be walking to waterfalls, lakes and creeks that you can see from a road.

Put your hiking boots on and walk. The general pop won’t/can’t be more than a .5-1 mile from their parking spot as a general rule.

Go early, hike steep, hike far.

This we go to Estes Park Co about every other year. We don’t go to the easy places where you park and walk 500 yards and there is a waterfall. We hike off the beaten path trials early that are 5 mile one way minimum. We usually pass a shite ton of people by the time we are 3/4 of the way back to,the trailhead.
