Finished up a trip to Grand Tetons/Yellowstone and this shite is ridiculous. National parks are no better than amusement parks at this point. Have to get up at the arse crack of dawn or we will spend hours waiting in line or looking for parking. Infant babies crying everywhere making it feel like an airport. If one more person asks me to take their picture I will drop their phone off the cliff! Stay in your caves you heathens!

Yes, national parks are pretty much not enjoyable unless you go during the school year now

Big Bend is not crowded all the time.

You went during peak visiting season.

What’s your solution? Raise prices to get in?

We should give them cancer. Isn’t that your normal solution?

I've heard they've been overly crowded since Covid.
My fishing spots have suffered the same fate.

Should they raise prices?

Absolutely. Get the funding while the parks are popular.

The National Park Service presently has a cumulative monetary shortfall of approximately $11.1 billion. This shortfall, which has accumulated over the years, has arisen from a backlog of unfunded operations, construction projects, land acquisitions, and resource protection projects.

The metered entries have helped a bit. It does cause a crazy early morning rush though. People getting in before the timed entry kicks in.

I’ve heard that if you do a hike that’s more than say 30 minutes that it clears out fast?

Yeah this issue appears to be concentrated to the more popular parks. Have heard horror stories of Zion and Yosemite as well

just got back from Olympic
we got to the hoh rainforest trailhead right at dawn, hiked about 20 miles and by the time we got back it was Armageddon

The line to get past the park gate was 5 miles long down the road

it sucks but you have to go early

Wait until 2 weeks after labor day. Glacier last year had a good amount of people but wasn't bad at all.

Absolutely. Big Bend is on my list. Just tent camped the Buffalo River last Spring.

GSMNP was ridiculous on 441 and Little River Gorge Road when I drove through last year. It became "normal" traffic as soon as I got off the main roads away from Gatlinburg.

The good thing is most of the new tourists are only interested in driving around. They don't get out the cars and hike very much.
