Honore complained the police chief called shooters “snipers” and claimed those people were just trying to get the attention of helicopters. …fifteen minutes later there’s an entire segment about evacuation delays at the dome…because helicopters diverted after reporting gunfire and bus drivers’ fears about driving through the city.

Couldn’t believe when he said well did any helicopters get hit, no, they are just trying to get people’s attention. Then comes the segment saying people on the roofs were mad because the helicopters were passing them up and heading toward Lakeview (white people). Like they could even know that.

Nola proper would probably make out just fine. Those shitty outflow canals that collapsed have been rebuilt the correct way and/or pump stations were placed near the lake.

Part 5 of the documentary does go into this a little bit at the end. Apparently, some of the concrete barriers and levees are already failing because they were built incorrectly. I’m on the Northshore now so I really don’t give a shite. If the denizen in Orleans Parish keeps on voting scum and filth like Latoya into office, then they’re just going to get what they deserve.

If you didn’t know any better, this “documentary“ leaves you with the belief that all of the scum down at the Superdome and the Convention Center were perfect angels, and were all merely victims of the white man. The documentary talked about all the reports of crime, but then dismissed it all without acknowledging that much of it did, in fact, happen. You also come away with the idea that all of the soldiers and law-enforcement officials were purposely going around killing black people for fun despite knowing that there was no crime going on in New Orleans other than starving people just trying to get food from stocked shelves at greedy food stores.

Honoré comes off as a self-absorbed a-hole with a Messianic complex who thought he was far more important than he actually was.

Katrina did not hit New Orleans; she hit Mississippi. Katrina was gone 12 hours before my house flooded in Jefferson.

That’s an astounding lack of self awareness.

Not to hijack, but what’s the best book about Katrina?

I see the Great Deluge mentioned a lot, also 1 Dead in the Attic, then some specific to Charity Hospital.

I like The Great Deluge.

It's a thick fricker though ??

If Katrina happened again to New Orleans, would it be the exact scenario as ‘05? Better or worse? Would the death toll be higher or lower?

If it happened again, I think the levees are in much better shape. You don’t get as much water in the funnel. You might still have weak points in the system and there would be a lot of problems, but nothing like 05.

If Katrina did not happen in 05 and instead happened this year, it would be much the same result, as all the improvements would have never occurred

Metairie flooded because nobody turned on the pumps. Aaron send all of the pump operators to Washington Parish.

The land mass doesn’t draw attention. And isn’t sitting around blaming Katina years later.

So, where is Ray Nagin now?

He was released from prison in 2020.
Holed up in the crawl space between Floors 14 & 15 at the Hyatt. You can see his roost here-

Have some questions for some of you that were there.
What’s a good estimate on people shot by the Algiers vigilantes?
Do you think there really were snipers dispatched by the government to take out looters?
Was one of them Chris Kyle and was he posted on top of the Super Dome? Was there ever a confirmed sighting of a bull shark swimming through the street?
What ever happened to Lootie?

My first (and only) shooting I’ve ever been in the middle of was in Houston a week after Katrina.

I was getting my three year old out of his car seat at the Home Depot on 610 and 59. I heard the gunshots coming from a very large crowd of black people that were loitering outside a Boudreaux’s Cajun Kitchen. This demographic was/is unusual for the area but is just north of the Astrodome complex where Houston generously took in refugees.

One guy runs thru the bushes past me, is firing back over his shoulder.. there is return fire… I literally chuck my child into the car and speed off as cops arrive and the crowd disburses.

I remember the city changing after that. Lots of crowds and loitering for months after.

Just like every piece of propaganda "documentary," this one made it seem like the black Indians are the main drawing point of Mardi Gras.

It was a 100% cluster frick from when it was projected to hit NO to the aftermath with Gov Blanco as the head clown.

Was pretty good until the last couple episodes where they went full social justice.

One ridiculous part was them drawing attention to the fact a helicopter had the audacity to fly over to Lakeview and rescue some people. All the while, using file footage of 5,000 square foot mansions from some other neighborhood.

They had an agenda with this docu-series. Sad. And tired.

Watched it the other night. It’s literally only about race. Complete piece of shite “documentary”

Right now I've watched the first two episodes. Most of the race stuff must come later. Because so far the race angle has been an afterthought, so the documentary isn't literally all about race.
