Name something extra you do for your wife that seems to just “not count”.

I’m sure you’ve all got into arguments with your wife at some point about who’s pulling the weight on certain things and how you feel it needs to be more balanced etc.

I find it that sometimes the things I do seem to just not count.

Pay for her to live in a house, she could never afford, for free.

This isn’t meant to just put down our wives. This is just a venting thread for men.

My wife is great. Im not always perfect for her either.

I throw a fourth or even fifth pump in from time to time. She seems completely ambivalent about my significant extra effort.

Nope.

Seems to be pretty balanced.

Mrs. Scruffy just needs to shop less.

Maybe you should park on the street, so that her boyfriend can park in the driveway instead?

I bet they both would appreciate that extra thing.

Upkeep/management on the rental house we own jointly. Other then that, we have an equitable division of labor with the household/kids.

The 2 or 3 hours I spend per week maintaining the yard is equal to the 6 minutes that she spends folding towels.

The shopping expense tends to be treated as a “necessity,” where any recreational spending on my part is analyzed a bit more.

To be fair, she’s still pretty diligent about sales, returns, store credit, etc., but there’s no way me intermittently buying golf or fishing gear even approaches the aggregate level of spending.

Pretty much any of the chores she doesn’t do like mow the yard, yard work, spray for bugs, kill rodents, maintenance around the house, etc. I’ll do 2-3 hours of yard work and home maintenance on the weekend morning and that’s forgotten when I get home from work and just want to grab a beer and watch baseball and not fold laundry.

My wife stays busy and so do I so its all good. But she can’t stand when she’s doing a chore and im not doing something she considers worthy.
