I have often wondered this myself. I think these homes are just old money families selling houses that were passed down to them. I don’t see how people can afford this I’m BRs economic climate

How many people live in Baton Rouge that make that kind of money to pay cash or not be bothered by the massive mortgage and the fact that their house is going to be very difficult to sell?

Oil field workers and plant workers are buying these houses. That’s why you are so many F-150s in the driveways.

assume people buying these homes are paying cash somehow or make so much money that the mortgage payment is just noise.

Or pay way more than they should based on their income in order to keep up appearances, and now have nothing left to save.

For that you could buy a real nice spread up around St Francisville and have enough left over for a helicopter to commute to BR.

The people who live in these homes can afford to wait to get what they want.

There lots of newer homes built in the last 10 years that are worth 1 million plus, but not for sale. There $800K spec homes under construction right now.
