I noticed this too. Brandon Craft builds nothing but 1mm houses. Had no idea BR had that type of market.

have often wondered this myself. I think these homes are just old money families selling houses that were passed down to them. I don’t see how people can afford this I’m BRs economic climate
Some OT balas like myself are not affected by the economic climate.

Yep. If I had a business that allowed me to live in a million dollar house I'd close it, go back to work for a company an live in a condo in Mobile. Retards. Some people have employment and businesses that are tied to the market.

They listed it at much higher than expected on purpose

These aren’t old money selling grandmas antebellum home. Baton Rouge has a hell of a lot of money that people don’t realize and always has.
Think of this. Stanford Group stole 7 Billion dollars in its scam across the country. 1 billion of it was from Baton Rouge with a small amount from Lafayette and this town didn’t even blink.

They must not be topped out yet if they haven't upgraded to the F-250 Limited.

Good luck selling all those with a mayor whose focus is wealth redistribution and race baiting. You see 86 homes for greater than a million dollars, her constituents see 86 opportunities

If you’re over 40 and can’t afford a million dollar home mortgage then you need to re-evaluate your life.

This.
Those are homes for average middle aged OT’ers.

I had read in 2011 or so that local bank deposits in East Baton Rouge were higher than any other parish in the state.
Not a direct correlation to wealth of the city at large, but Baton Rouge wasn’t exactly insulated to the growth in the energy industry.
Another fun Louisiana fact: 40 years ago - before Microsoft, Amazon, and the 1980s oil bust, Lafayette had more millionaires per capita than any other city in the country.

These are def. old money families and doctors for the most part. I am in the construction business and I know of one family that every member lives in a >$1m home in exclusive neighborhoods. There is way more money in BR than the normal working baw would believe. I’ve worked in the grandest homes in this city and it is almost obscene how much money some people have.
It is usually my more modest clients that ask if I want a coke or “would you like a sandwich or donut”. I’ve had millionaires eating full bbq spreads or pizza or whatever and not even offer a water (not that they are obliged to, mind you, but I always offer refreshments to people working at my house. It’s the thought...)

I think Pennington’s $100+ million donation to LSU was the largest donation to any college by a single person in history at the time (1980s).
There is some money in Louisiana.

That’s probably just a southern thing.

I can't figure out why anyone who lives in the South would want a million dollar home.
