I spent my 20s and Early 30s in Boulder. Best place ever to be young and in your prime .

The problem with Boise is it's not a hub. If that's what you want I'd suggest Denver or Salt Lake City depending on where your travel destinations are. Denver is a cooler town, but SLC is much easier to get into the mountains from, and it's going to be stable (not left wing) much longer than Colorado.

Holy shite, No! Almost everyone with money who live in the Rockies are there in the summers and live in the south for the winters. The Rocky Mountains are all about the summers. If you think it's about the winters it's a sure sign you've never been there except on a ski vacation.

Year 1: pick your top 10 cities/towns in America, optimized seasonally, rent Airbnb for 30 days in each one.
Year 2: spend 3 mo each in S America, SEA, eastern Europe/Baltics. (Start studying languages in year one).
Year 3: rinse and repeat until you find a wife, find a new job, or find a place you don't want to leave.
If possible buy a small house/condo to rent out year 1, ideally in a college town.

If you're okay being 30 minutes from night life look at the Heber Valley in Utah. For golf, hiking, and snowboarding it is without equal in the USA. There are seven medium to world class ski resorts within an hour, one within 15 minutes, and there are about five golf courses in that valley. Plus, you are 45 minutes from isolated wilderness trails.
There is the Mormon thing, which is fading away but is still a factor sometimes.

Really don't understand your infatuation with landing him in SLC suburbs that are Mormon strongholds when there is a perfectly good city with more to do, less Mormons, and a very manageable COL that's as close to outdoors and even closer to the ski resorts

I wouldn’t rule out a place out west just because the mountains can get light snow in late spring. That’s not going to affect your day to day life in any meaningful way

Las Vegas. No state income tax. No snow. No hurricanes. Everything is 24 hours. 3.5 hour drive to L.A./Santa Monica/Anaheim. Major airport with plenty of non-stop flights to everywhere else.

Boulder isn’t a small college town
Boulder is 30 minutes from Denver
Boulder has tons to do from a nightlife and restaurants perspective
Boulder real estate prices are insane, so yes, it is a prime place to live based on supply/demand for housing
