In this era I have trouble seeing how politically divided marriages/relationships can work.
Two people who are only moderately interested in politics could probably be R and D and get by. But increasingly those on the left who are highly invested in political ideology are like radical Muslims - they can't coexist with anyone else peacefully.

I actually did run across my ex on Hinge and she said she was looking for someone who was tolerant and open minded, which is coming from the least tolerant and open minded person I've ever met save for some guy in his 90s I suspect is a member of the Klan. I like to think of myself as open minded even if I fail sometimes, but people who are actually open minded don't go bragging about it. They let their actions speak for themselves.

Like many have said, this is not about trump or politics. If you guys have disagreements over stuff like politics, it is not going to get better. Consider yourself lucky that you are not married and find someone where there is a give and take. Someone who has similar views as you or respects your opinions. Nobody is going to have the exact same thoughts as you but somewhere close.

Alright, so when she first gave me this bogus ultimatum, I was pretty pissed off but I at least wanted a little time to cool off and really think about it.
I broke up with her lastnight.
She's been calling and I've just been ignoring her. She sent me a text apologizing saying she was so caught up in the news. I haven't answered and will not going forward. On the one hand, this could be just your normal couple fights but on the other hand, this ultimatum seems like some straight up red flag B.S.
If any of y'all are trying to grab a few beers on Dickson in the future, let me know!

You called out her bluff. Same shite happened with my ex. Stick with it. This is the best decision you’ve ever made. Don’t go back out on the market too quickly. Just sit on your decision, crack open a beer, and know that you ended it from your end. This weekend, go get shitfaced with some friends and have a good time. You’ve earned it.
