Besides being allowed to advertise and create demand, pharmaceutical companies are basically paying "hush money" to T.V., Radio, and internet as well. You don't hear anything from these sources questioning the efficacy and safety of these drugs because it's a cash cow for them.

US citizens pay amongst the highest prices for drugs in the world. Greatest country in the world I am told.
Sadly our politicians allow us to subsidize the entire world’s healthcare. Eurotrash price caps should not be transferred over to us to make up for. We also fund almost all R&D. Trump didn’t just pull this out of his arse. I had to do a college project on it over a decade ago. It’s been happening a long time. I’m sick and tired of being the caretaker of the world while they are not only unappreciative but openly hostile toward us. We are the most benevolent and equal superpower the world has ever seen. frick them all

bruh, they legally have to tell you the side effects in the ad
look, i have DTC advertising as much as anyone, b/c i think it's a bad precedent, but all of what you just said is false...
new drugs take a LOT of money to develop, and for every 1 drug that a drug company gets a patent for, they likely had 5 that failed, at some point in trials, which they also spent money to develop... they only have, after all the clinical trials and receiving their patent, where only they can manufacture the drug, about 10-14 years of exclusivity... after that, other manufacturers can make the same product (this is when it goes generic) and the original drug maker will no longer reap the same profits on that drug...
no, drug companies are not subsidizing their product in other parts of the world at the cost of American consumers, at least not on the scale that some seem to think it is... and the advertising budget for these drugs are drop in the bucket vs. the R&D costs...
but without those innovations, we don't get better and better treatment options/cures... it costs so much for consumers here b/c our healthcare system is BEY(OND fricked, and insurances and PBMs are raking in record profits year after year... those are the boogeymen in the nightmare that is the US healthcare system

Skyrizi didn't work for me. Neither did Taltz or Otezla. Dermatologist decided to try injecting the rash with tiny amounts of steroids using a tiny needle and all gone! I go every 3 or 4 months to get another tiny injection if it starts to come back. The amount of steroid is minimal and since it's injected under the skin, no side effects from it.

Was this for your infusion or your at home injections?
Do you have a skyrizi rep working with you?
I would recommend going through BIRDI pharmacy to get your at homes. i have had 0 issues with them.

Skyrizi prices
United States ~$22,383
Canada ~$5,400–$7,199
United Kingdom ~$3,600–$4,000
Australia ~$20–$40
Australia getting the drug that cheap is only possible because we pay so much.
quote:
Price Discrimination – Pharmaceutical companies charge much higher prices in the U.S. (where patients and insurers can pay) and much lower prices in countries with strict government price controls.
Global Profit Strategy – The high U.S. prices allow companies to offset the lower revenue from international markets, where the government or insurance negotiates aggressively.
Patent Monopoly + Inelastic Demand – Because drugs like Skyrizi are patented and essential, pharma can legally charge whatever the U.S. market will bear. That “extra” money essentially cross-subsidizes global sales.
We do subsidize the rest of the world. Anyone saying otherwise is just straight up lying.

Or something like that.

I got hit for roughly that amount for remicade back in the day for Crohn's. Ask the doc for something else like Humira or one of the bio-similars like Hyrimoz. Humira was $80/month and Hyrimoz is zero. Also, check with Skyrizi's manufacturer, almost all of the biologics manufacturers have some type of pay assistance that can lower your cost. My docs never directed me to them but my pharmacy did.

Physicians don’t make money off of prescriptions.

Edit:
He got 143 payments from Abbvie Inc in 2024 totaling $79,349.07. He topped out at over $300k a few years back.

Can we have a discussion about, then hunt down and slowly kill the Marketing person who decided that every single drug has to have a cringe jingle? I dive for the remote to hit Mute anytime a drug commercial comes on just to avoid the fat lady singing about diabetes.

Tell me you got the jab without telling me you got the jab. Pfizer jab can cause psoriasis from what I’ve read.
