Have to get to the underlying issue, which is buried. Time to lead with the hugs and have a one on one. Listen and stay stone calm.

My 16 yr old son barely talks to us. I get a few words out of him per day, otherwise it’s just texts asking for cleats or a ride.

Ignore the wife and kid for about 24 hours. Don't fight or argue. Don't even talk to em. Just ignore their asses.

They'll need you before you need them and the tune will be different. I have 3 daughters here myself: 13,15,19.

Sports should have gone with the phone. Keep talking disrespectful and find a new place to live.

Congrats on your impending grandkid. Sounds like he’ll get a full ride to Southern.

Sounds like your wife is a huge part of this issue. You are 100% correct and the wife needs to present a united front, or this kid will play yall against each other and this will only get worse. Your daughter won't learn a damn thing unless her punishments are attention getting. Maybe having to explain to her coach why her phone is missing will embarrass her enough to stop the attitude.

that’s how her coaches communicate with their players on things
She wouldn’t need coaches or be on any team with that disrespectful attitude at my house.

I think it's always a good idea to get parenting advice from the OT.

But the real answer is take control of your family and take away privileges that she enjoys, until she straightens out and acts right. And I'm talking about your wife.

Handle your business son. Mine will be 16 in 2 months and her arse better walk the line.

Coaches communicating with teens on cell phones? What could go wrong? Not suspicious at all

Give her a dumb phone. No internet.

Sorry brother. I know the teenage years are the hardest. I’m dreading them. But I’ve got the oldest spreading his wings and getting out on his own. It gets better

You sound a touch rigid. If she plays sports then she probably does need her phone to communicate. Also sounds like maybe she is trying to be independent. Perhaps chill and the attitude will chill.

As a head coach of a high school team, your wife is correct that we try to teach them to handle those things themselves without help.

However, if you contacted me and told me you were having issues and needed to take her phone away, I would be happy to send any needed information directly to you and would also be glad to help in any way possible. Talk to the coach, might really be a ally for you here, sometimes we can get help with some things that kids fight parents on.

Get her one of those basic kids phones that only does text, call and location. How can the wife argue with that?

An entire political party wants teachers to have private sex chats with 4 year olds

Welcome to 2022

Sorry for anyone that actually officially got married

What a mistake that was

Could have some outs if not
