Muslim holidays will be "recognized" in California under bill

So, does that mean California government workers get the entire month of Ramadan off?

While it could eventually creep into something worse, the way this is written isn’t all that bad. It allows (but doesn’t mandate) schools close on those days if they want to. It keeps all other governmental agencies open. It allows employees of other agencies to take up to 8 hours of vocation time in lieu of personal vacation time.
Now, I appreciate that there will be people who argue that any recognition of Islam, or of any religion other than Christianity, is inherently problematic. But outside of that kind of analysis, this bill doesn’t seem unreasonable.

Funny how athiest don't go hard at Muslims. All religions have some practices worth poking fun of, with Muslim's have the most ridiculous by far.

The muhammadists haven't changed their strategy in the 14 centuries since an illiterate nomad began to gather followers by stitching together the most radical and violent teaching of the many heretical pop up religions of the first 5 or 6 centuries.

California currently doesn't recognize additional Christian holidays outside of Christmas Day which is a Federal holiday.
They also have more Californians in other religions than Muslims (Jews, etc.) that get none.
So Muslims will be the most represented in terms of protected holidays in the state.

Buc-ee's has never closed for any holiday, much less Diwali. They are open 24/7 365

So, that’s something I was curious about as I was reading it. The issue is that I don’t know how personal vacation time works there, so I can’t quite figure out what this changes. It either gives more time (bad) or acts as an allowable use instance (fine) if justification is generally needed. But I don’t know which it is.

Hitchens was way more aggressive towards Islam than Christianity believe it or not. Yes he spoke about Christianity more often but that’s because he debated in the USA and Britain. He was extremely critical of Muslims.
Seems like you might be experiencing a severe case of confirmation bias and not hearing them talking about religions when it doesn’t personally offend you
