Funny how athiest don't go hard at Muslims. All religions have some practices worth poking fun of, with Muslim's have the most ridiculous by far.

While it could eventually creep into something worse, the way this is written isn’t all that bad.

it ALWAYS starts with "well, I guess THIS specific version of things isn't THAT bad...", then a bit later it changes slightly, then a bit later slightly more, then later on it's not even recognizable.

Remember in the 90s when the gays only wanted to quietly marry at the courthouse then go on about their lives just like anyone else? Fast forward about 20 years and we get men tucking their dicks into panties dressing in drag reading books about blowjobs to elementary schoolers in libraries.

Islam is not compatible with western culture. Period, point blank, end of story. It simply isn't. Giving them even an inch is an inch too much.

Hitchens was way more aggressive towards Islam than Christianity believe it or not. Yes he spoke about Christianity more often but that’s because he debated in the USA and Britain. He was extremely critical of Muslims. Seems like you might be experiencing a severe case of confirmation bias and not hearing them talking about religions when it doesn’t personally offend you

I think part of it is the rage bias, but most of it is just geography. A Christian living in the US is going to hear atheists complaining about Christianity because it’s the dominant religion. Atheists in Mumbai likely spend next to zero time complaining about Christianity. And atheists in Salt Lake City probably complain about Mormons more than anything else.

But because Christianity is, historically, the default here, Christians aren’t used to being criticized, so it feels personal instead of geographically obvious.

And a principled individual can still support their right to marry at courthouses while not supporting reading books about blowjobs to elementary schoolers. If you’re willing to take someone’s liberties just because you’re afraid of what they may ask for later, you don’t actually support liberty.

According to the bill analysis, AB 2017 authorizes K-12 public schools and community colleges to close on the first day of the month of Shawwal in the Islamic lunar calendar (Eid al-Fitr) and on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah (Eid al-Adha). It establishes both as state holidays and authorizes any state employee to elect eight hours of holiday credit of each in lieu of eight hours of personal holiday credit.

Why should the schools completely close down on each day? Just allow it to be excused and not count negatively towards any minimum attendance requirements.

Regardless of how it started Christmas has just been wrapped into being a part of winter break for schools. Easter is on a normal day off for schools.

Yeah, an individual. When society as a whole deems one action acceptable, then they'll ask for a bit more. Then a litttle more. That's the entire point.

And in that example we're just talking about gays, which are "only" an abomination against God. Compare that to Muslims, which openly say they want to take over every other culture by any means necessary (murder included) and convert everyone else to be like them whether they want to or not. We shoudln't be giving these people anything they ask for.

In what way is not wanting a school to close down for Muslim holidays not supporting liberty?

They can ask for whatever they want; that doesn't mean we have to give it to them. Though the gay marriage thing isn't actually the slippery slope people pretend it is. When gay marriage was being debated, the "slippery slope" we were all warned about was that, if men could marry men, then people could marry 1. Children 2. As many people as they wanted 3. Animals and 4. Inanimate objects. And yet, literally zero "progress" has occurred towards any of those items at the end of the slop that was supposed to be so slippery. None whatsoever.

It's revisionist history to pretend as though the legalization of gay marriage has anything to do with sexually explicit books in libraries or, literally any, of the current issues revolving around trans people. People arguing it does are acting from ignorance at best or are being intentionally manipulative at worst.

Again, I already acknowledged that there are people who would take this tack, and that's fine

This doesn't shut schools down; it gives the schools the ability to choose to shut down. If you don't think schools should shut down for any religious holidays whatsoever, that's fine. If you think Islam is evil/dangerous and should be eradicated from the face of the Earth, that's fine. If you think only Christian holidays should be legally acknowledged, I would say that's not supporting liberty.

I will never understand why some liberals fawn over Islam, one of the most illiberal religions. "Queers for Palestine" is one great example. Bill Maher does a great job of discussing this issue. I have a couple of close, and quite liberal, friends from college who give Islam a free pass on everything. I told them (and they didn't get to mad LOL) that I believe they take the positions they do because they are scared of Islam. Their fear makes them appease Islam.

I have another friend from college who loves Islam because he has some issue with Jews. I have never quite figured that one out.

I agree with your statement that the trans debate going on is not part of the "slippery slope" argument. I think it is nothing more than gay activists finding something to do once same sex marriage was legalized.

It's because atheists are mostly democrats and leftists and support islam and other leftist shite... and they hate Christianity.

Everybody knows this. You're just pretending to be full of shite.

84% of atheists consider themselves democrats.

Take your strawman and shove it up your arse.

Now this I at least somewhat agree with, even though it obviously wasn't all of them. But if your job/personality revolves around a particular issue, you can't ever "win", because then you might have to find something else to do
