Moved daughter into Samford yesterday.

Samford has a very pretty campus. I went to law school there.

The days are long but the years are short. Although my kids all decided to go in to the workforce directly rather than college, it feels the same once they've moved out. I still have one living at home but he's traveling for work a lot(electrician) so it's just me and the mrs (no pics).

We've decided traveling the world is the answer...so we're off to Switzerland in 3 weeks.

Has anyone outside of specialized jobs such as medical or engineering been asked to provide a copy of their degree/transcript? I’ve never been asked.

For most mid-to-large enterprise companies for general corporate roles, sales, marketing, HR, operations, you may feel like you’ve "never been asked" because the process has changed. Instead of asking you to track down a transcript, employers typically outsource this to a third-party background screening company such as HireRight or Checkr.

When you sign a background check consent form, the screening agency contacts your university directly or uses a clearinghouse like the National Student Clearinghouse to confirm your degree, graduation date, and major. If the school doesn't cooperate or a discrepancy arises, then they will come back to you asking for a diploma or a copy of your transcript.

Our middle is at ULL. She LOVES it. I like Laffy too, feels safer than Baton Rouge!

God bless LSU, but it is a complete shite hole now.

Have multiple friends whose kids are there now and they share this sentiment. They all said the parking sucks, can’t really get the classes they need with English as a first language professors, and no one is helpful. As in, the advisors are like NOLA government workers who don’t GAF about their jobs.

Damn man. I bitch and complain about my kids all the time but honestly, the day the last one moves out is a day I will cry like a baby.

I did that when I moved my first one out two weeks ago. Got 5 years before I have to do it again.

Our youngest is a junior this year. Went to Western Kentucky his first 2 years. It was about 1.5 hours away and he was home practically every weekend, except when he went to Knoxville to see his buddies who have a place on the north end of campus.

But this year feels different. One of the guys in the 6 bedroom apartment graduated. He took the spot and lives with 5 of his high school buddies. He’s 3+ hours away now. Moved in 2 weeks ago and probably won’t be home until the weekend after Labor Day and then again at fall break. Hits a bit differently now.

LSU is the better choice for most majors

And the better choice if you want them to have the advantage of a larger and more dispersed alumni network in most any major city they could end up working in.
