Congrats on being a grandparent

It sucks when your last one leaves. Now that you are empty nesters, get ready for your wife to totally change, become a different person and then divorce you. All the years you sacrificed and busted your arse and put everybody first over yourself won’t mean anything to her. And it will all be your fault even though you didn’t do anything.

Anytime. We do gumbo and crawfish Monica for just about every LSU game in the fall and sitting on the front porch watching the game with the lake in background is pretty damn nice that time of year.

All I can think about is how much that costs.
But the payoff was a fantastic job making great money and will never end up baby-boomeranging back home.

I have a Sr in hs this year
The anxiety is starting to gear up.
I remember my mom crying on the way home when we took my older brother to college . I thought it was funny at 15.
I understand now.

Mine chose the northeast for college.
Almost 25 hours away. SMH.
I have 11 months left to enjoy her being around. Hard to even think about.

She’ll be back home probably after she graduates. 50% of college grads end up moving back in with their parents

She gave a sensible chuckle.
You’ll love visiting Birmingham.

Room looks ridiculous. Just like that designer LSU mom thread.
We saw pictures of our old dorm rooms at Southeastern, Lee Hall and Livingston, and they looked like prison cells: cinder blocked walls with a sink and a desk. People wonder why college is so expensive now, student living is one of the reasons

Is she majoring in anything useful?
Or will she be moving back home in 4 years and working at Starbucks?

It’s hard at first but it gets so much better. Sent my youngest to LSU in August 2019. It was in October while sitting on my patio watching football and having a cocktail. Wife got home, came out side and just sat quietly for a few minutes. I could see my wife just “chill”. No “what’s for dinner, who has practice or homework”, the focus shifted to just us again and it’s awesome. We could make plans for just us or head to LSU to see the kids. However, COVID did frick this up for a short time!
Congratulations on your parenting. If you keep them alive, out of jail, somewhat mentally stable and on the way to being a productive adult, you have succeeded. You and your spouse go do things together like you’re newlyweds again.

She's not sure yet. I told her just to go figure it out her freshman year. I think it's totally normal for an 18 yr old to not know yet what they want to do with the rest of their life.

Congrats. One 17 year old in senior year of high school to go but will probably stick around after HS for a year or two. getting close though. His plans after that change every week like most 17 or 18 year olds.I didnt know what i wanted to do until around 30.

I changed majors 3 times. I ended up working in my final field of study though and have made a great living.
