Is that wrong/tacky as a new neighbor? Twice a day let them out back in. What say you? 3 days. Cool neighbors, had drinks with them before. Going out of town. Boarding places are nasty here.

What exactly are you asking us, or telling us?

How can anyone but you or your neighbor know of this is acceptable?

Don't be mad if you aren't paying him and you come home to a dead dog, though.

if your neighbors have dogs (ie: you would reciprocate) then yes, cool.
if not, borderline

I would do this for any neighbor who asked. Not for my neighbor, but for the sake of the dog(s).

leaving your dogs at home unattended for extended periods of time (days or weeks) is trashy

Weird to inconvenience people you hardly know. I wouldn't even consider it.

You're rolling the dice. Better hope they don't forget.

They have 2 dogs, hoping they ask return favor. Buying them some wine when I return as that's their preference.

Just pay to board them. Much safer if you care about your dogs.
