why do people feel the need to burden neighbors with pets just because you have to go out of town?

I don't burden my neighbors, I pay a pet sitter. Does that mean I can't take care of my dogs?

they enjoy dogs and their neighbors. I hope they ask me for favors. They have almost the same dogs as me and don't have young kids and only one of them works. Some nervousness, but Im not asking to sleep at their house for 6 months.

No, that's exactly what you should do.

Yeah, that's what they are telling you but how do you know ?

They constantly send us pics and my dog sleeps in the owners bed. If the company sucked they wouldn't be in business.

It's Scouts Pet Care in BR. The guys are true dog fans.

Also, pretty sure those types of "neighbors" are reserved for homeowners in neighborhoods. The folks renting the townhouse next to you aren't really the kind of neighbors that give a shite.

And that's what the OP should do instead of asking his neighbors

Seems really awkward to ask. Esp if you just moved in.

Why not have the dogs stay with friends or family if you don't want to board them?

I live 6 hours from the nearest relative and travelling in the opposite direction. Otherwise I would. Money isn't an issue and I would board them, but these boarding places resemble kill shelters. Hot as shite, no air flow, small.

Then pay an actual pet sitter and don't put your neighbors in an awkward position.

So is this just a one time thing or are you going to make a habit out of asking your neighbors to watch your pets, which is your responsibility?

If you are asking them to do this you should offer to pay them to do it.

Eta. My wife's bestfriend comes and stays at our house when we go out of town to dog sit for us. We usually pay her about 400 a week which is what we would pay a kennel.

Why not ask your neighbors if they can recommend a decent boarding place in the area and/or a pet sitter.

Then they may actually offer to watch them if it's not a big deal to them.
