This romanticizing of New Orleans is laughable. New Orleans is the trashy chick with too much makeup and too many tattoos in a short skirt you plow one time and never go back.

You really think it’s changed that much in only 5 years?

Serious questions:

Why did you move away?
Why don't you move back?

I miss New Orleans when I grew up there in the 90's/00's.

Now I wish my parents would move out of that place.

It's in the way your heart skips a beat when you hear the word "N'awlins" pronounced just right, or how your soul stirs at the sound of a bluesy trumpet drifting from a dimly lit club.

To miss New Orleans is to yearn for a place that feels like home even when you're far away, a place where every corner holds a story and every moment is infused with magic. It's a love affair that transcends time and distance, leaving an indelible mark on your heart that can never be erased.

I'd say the decline of New Orleans has accelerated in the past 5 years. But I travel a lot for work, and I know that New Orleans is far from unique to this problem. It does hurt to see a place you love change and "move on" without you. It hurts especially badly if you see it decline.

But the reality is that most posters on this board are 25-55 years old. EVERY place has changed dramatically changed in the past 20-30 years since most of these posters were children.

Very, very few neighborhoods are static. And even if they are, the people that still live there age and change.

Yep. I miss where I grew up. Drive by the house weekly, as I still do business in that town… But the old house is showing its age and is now in a less than ideal neighborhood. The small independent grocery store across the street where I used to get turkey sandwiches, Milk Duds, on my parents’ tab, and steal $0.79 cans of dip in jr high is closed down. The best hamburger and milkshake joint in the world (in my mind) is long gone. And my grandparents, who lived down the street, are dead.

I miss something that doesn’t exist anymore. Just the way it is.

frick all that shite.

Lived there for 57 years, nothing better than seeing that shithole in my rear view mirror when we were moving.

Good riddance.

Come back for about 24 hours and you'll be glad you moved.

I grew up in Baton Rouge, living there from 1979 to 2000 and it was a good place to grow up. Dare I say, I loved growing up there. I can't stand the place now. So, some people would say, "It is where you grew up! How can you hate it so much?" Well, that's because it is no longer the place I grew up. The geographical location is the same, but it is not the same city. The Baton Rouge I knew is long gone, and likely never to be seen again.

Nobody is reading that queer eye cosmopolitan crap. Just move back or let it go.

EDIT: I see this is a troll thread.
