It'd not the city you remember. What's sad is that the city you might remember is remembered through filters.
My hometown in Virginia isn't what it was; its problem is ever expanding gubment (sic) and the people who chose gubment (sic) for careers and moved there to find their place at the trough.

Well I'm New Orleans born and raised
But nowadays I'm lost between two shores
B.R.’s fine
But it ain't home
New Orleans’s home
But it ain't mine no more
Thanks Democrats…
You turned a place where families on Friday evenings and weekends could barbecue, boil crabs, drink beer and enjoy life on Lakeshore Drive into a murderous cesspool of crime and corruption.

I can't imagine a scenario that I would "miss" new orleans
I've been a resident of the N.O. area for 69 of my 71+ years and will not miss much about it when the wife finally retires and we sell the house and move away.
I know how to cook the food that makes N.O. such a culinary draw for tourists and the only thing I'd miss would be the availability and cost of purchasing our seafood compared to what others pay living elsewhere.
Other than that, you can have the failing infrastructure, red light cameras, increasing crime rate, cost of living, taxes, insurance costs, corrupt government leadership, etc.

It’s still the same except 350 times worse.
