BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana is leading the country in one STI, and is high in several others, according to data from the CDC. “It’s easier and a lot less costly to prevent disease than it is to treat,” David Ourso, Open Health Care Clinic Family Nurse Practitioner, said. Ourso treats and educates patients with STDs or STIs at the Open Health Care Clinic in Baton Rouge. “A lot of times, patients will come in, they don’t have symptoms, but they’re not getting regularly tested, nor are we using our safe sex practices,” Ourso said.

According to the CDC, in 2023, Louisiana was #1 in chlamydia, #2 in gonorrhea, #7 in congenital syphilis, and #8 in primary and secondary syphilis.

Those syphilis numbers are rookie numbers.

Yeah there’s a certain population in LA and MS that drives these numbers through the roof

Ourso says we are seeing these high numbers because of an overall lack of education.

Good for LA. When I taught we went over STDs in my science class and I always pointed out MS was ranked first and Clay County (West Point, MS) per capita led the entire nation.

The Hahnville Herpers

And their big rivals are the Cheneyville Chlamydites, before you even ask.

Geesh, you need to get out more.

Mississippi is about to become the next South Carolina. Louisiana has zero chance of catching up as more and more wealthier people and businesses open up there due to new tax law changes.

Gonna be great when 95% of those retards can’t get tested anymore. Elections have consequences.

Louisiana’s biggest issues are their big city politics. Mississippi has Jackson to deal with, but it’s largely diluted by surrounding areas and obviously not as big of a city/problem.
