Had to help a friend and his family move. Mid August. His mom was really into antique furniture, so everything was made of heavy wood and covered in marble. Plus everything had to moved down a set of narrow stairs.
The 3 other guys who were supposed to help us flaked out. It was just me, my friend, and his dad who was overweight and one fried porkchop away from a heart attack.
It took us around 12 hours to move all this heavy arse furniture.
When we were done, his dad bought us a case of beer. That was the most refreshing beer I have ever had. We still talk about that beer with awe, in the same manner that I imagine an Somalian would talk about a loaf of bread he happened upon.

Picture it, 2014. Mardi Gras.
Pounding beers and Jim Beam all day on the parade route with titties being flashed for plastic trinkets.
That Pedialyte on Ash Wednesday after puking my guts up all night was magical.

I was at the pool yesterday and somebody tossed me a Ranch Water. That thing was delicious and refreshing AF.

Sugar filled Gatorade after two a days in the summer heat for football.

Quickick after football practice. The vending machine in the gym had like 4 buttons of Quickick 12 ounce. If you tilted the machine at a 45-degree angle and had your buddy press the button, it would spit out like 3 for every 50 cents put in. Good times!

No drink was more satisfying than the iced hose water in a bottle during an August football practice.

I think we must be related. Several years back I had made some bourbon soaked cherries from a recipe someone posted on the Food board here. Our kids drank tons of smoothies and we had worn out a KitchenAid blender. Just bought a Ninja to replace it, and I was out cutting the backyard. My wife was playing with it, and made me a bourbon cherry lime aid slush. She poured, according to her, a couple of shots of the juice from the cherry jar. It was like half and half bourbon and homemade simple syrup. Then she poured two more shots of Old Forester 100 proof, tossed a few cherries from the jar in there, juiced two limes, topped it with ice and blended it. I don't remember finishing the yardwork, and didn't care. It was one of those hot July days like we've had recently where it was upper 90s and very humid. Way too hot to be out there, and I got a good brain freeze from the first few sips. Let it sit out there for a few minutes to melt a little more, and it was great.

A cool refreshing healthy cup of triple filtered Starbucks ice water followed be one of their Grandes in a venti cup, 20-pumps of vanilla, 20-pumps of hazelnut, whole milk, 190 degree, add whip and extra caramel drizzle latte.

Your school must have been rich. Our two-a-days for football was poor man's gatorade powder (essentially Tang) mixed in that large orange gatorade cooler with a non working push nozzle so your teammates would have to tilt the damn thing just to get a slow drizzle into those stupid cone paper cups

During the Summer I graduated from college, I took a day and went hiking with my father in the Smoky Mountains. We went up the steep trail (Alum Cave Bluff) to Mount Le Conte.
It was a hot/humid August day and about 11 miles to the top. When we got to the lodge, we sat down and had a cold coke. To this day, that I can still taste it. That was a good day, and a good Coke.

Recent memory, we did a 10 mile hike at Guadalupe Peak in July and a 40 oz coke in Van Horn afterwards was one of the greatest drinks I can remember having.
I don’t drink cokes often but I don’t ever remember anything tasting better in my life.
