My kids are getting to the age where they want to and are finally able to play in competitive youth sports leagues.

Taking into account everything - equipment, league fees (obviously that varies), travel, training, and so on, what are the more "expensive" sports to play? Obviously, I want them to play whatever they want (I'd prefer multiple sports, honestly), but am already gearing up for a sticker shock.

Golf, tennis, showcase/travel baseball.

Eta You can spend as much as you want on any sport, but the 3 I listed above have a higher floor than most others

Hockey, though likely not an option in most areas of the south.

Baseball can get pricey if you get into travel baseball.

Just about anything with horses.

One of my offspring's friends had a $100k horse.

Curling. Dollar store brooms just don't do well. You have to get those fancy Target ones.

My son isn't here yet but I can only imagine how expensive Golf would be. I don't play as much as I would like because of the price. My son will probably play rec basketball, soccer, and baseball

For us it's Cricket. Finding a decent pitch or wicket in the states is pretty much out of the question. So we've been flying young Brax to Liverpool 3 times a week for practice, lessons and contests.

^^^^^ This. And it's not even close. I made an equestrian Dad gasp once going over dance expenses.

On the other side of the coin is the cheapest. My son runs track and cross country and there is almost no expense. A little over $100 ever 3 months for new sneakers and a set of spikes and he is set.

Skiing. Competitive training requires boarding school.
