My brother in 1998 bought my mom’s boss’s old beater Ford escort for $50. Drove it for his last two years in high school until one day it quit on him.
He happened to be near a junker, so he walked over there and they gave him 300 for it. Called my dad to come pick him up.

Back in the 80’s I bought an old 74 Chevy Impala for 400 bucks. That thing was as big as a whale but with the 350 engine it would stroll pretty good on the top end

Cheapest-
1981 Toyota 4x4- $150….no joke. Dude couldn’t pay his light bill. All stock runner- but rusty like you would think.

Most expensive - my current 2004 Lexus RX350. I bought it used, and I think I paid around $25k for it.
Cheapest - $500 for a 1979 Buick Regal. I got 3 months out of it before the engine threw a rod.
