Sparta, GA

The small farming town my mother grew up in. Almost nothing left of it, fewer than 50 people. There are thousands of places like it.

Camden, Arkansas during winter time while raining. Was only there one night but it made me depressed.

At least there are some good juke joints and restaurants. At least when Morgan Freeman owned a restaurant there.

It was either Greenwood or Greenville or something like that, in Mississippi.

North half of Greenwood is a different world from south of the Yalobusha River.

Arcola, MS... We had to drive through it going to Hot Springs Ark. That's one depressing town.

It may not be the worst, but my hometown of New Iberia, LA is pretty fricking depressing these days. I haven't lived there since 1994, but I visited recently and it's even more of a shithole than it was when I grew up there.

I suppose that's the case with most small towns in Louisiana, but it seems like it's extra bad because so many people have moved to the Lafayette area, especially the Youngsville and Broussard areas, from New Iberia.

bandmate of mine grew up in Minersville PA

i was in Hershey with the fam on Christmas vacation in 2022 and drove there on a whim

there are few places on this planet that compare with downtown Minersville PA as the sun is setting on Christmas Day

and I don’t mean that as a compliment

Pick any town in the Mississippi delta. It’s the land of the haves and have nots and with the land being completely flat it’s all out in the open. Depressing as hell.

Cleveland is the only Delta town that's viable. Greenville's heyday was from pre WWII through the 1950s. Greenwood was still doing ok until about 15 years ago. It has really nosedived since the pandemic.

My mom grew up in Opelousas in the 50s -70s. Such neat stories to hear of those times. Not any more

Creole basically doesn’t exist any more.

Ferriday has really seen some tough times.

The whole MS delta is up there.

My buddy owns a gas station there. Driving through downtown always reminds me My Cousin Vinny

Aliceville just west of it is even worse.

Tallulah with a possible challenge from Lake Providence.

The rest are just dreaming. Last time I drove through Tallulah it looked like a third world country. Same as it looked 10 years prior.
