Are you living in an old super sized mansion that doesn’t have any windows? That electricity bill doesn’t even begin to make sense.
Probably has around 10 tons of cooling and if they're running 12 hours a day that could easily rack up $400 if they are new and efficient and probably push $1k if they are old and need work or replacement. Then you have lights, appliances, electronics, etc.

It’s not the house. I have an older big home. We replaced 18 windows on the front side of the house 3 years ago and one of the the 3 central units with bigger unit. The result of all that money spent is now our electricity is averaging $100 more per month. frick Entergy.

About $350.00 (seriously) most of the year but $750.00 July- September.
2 story, built in the late 90’s, about 3800sf.

The 1936 house I lived in (Atlanta) for 20 years had no wall insulation, original windows and doors on one floor, who knows how old the attic insulation was, such that it was. I got on the night-charging plan when we had a LEAF (basically a free three-year lease for commuter car, after absurd fed and state credits) and never changed the power program after the lease ended. It was a penny a kwh from 11pm to 7am so I just blasted the AC all night and voila! Never had a bill over $200 even in terrible summers.
CSB. I just got a notice from Duke on our very small, insulated house (upstate SC) that we were on track for $350 (yes) this month and haven't even run the ac that much. Pool pump and stupid electric water heater contributing and I don't even want to know the rate.

This summer it might get up to $350, maybe.
My nephew that lived in Royce City, Tx had an open entrance way on a two story house that was beautiful. His bill was typically >$1500/monthly
After enclosing it his bill dropped to something like $500/month.

i have a new house with 4 units, 12 tons total and close to 6k sf and mine is 350-400 during summer months, thats with the back of the house facing west and being all windows.
1k+ a month is fricking insane.
I dont think he needs to tear it down but he 100% needs to rip out sheet rock or plaster, seal all windows, baseplates and other cracks and then needs to spray foam the whole thing, including underside and prolly change AC units.
it would pay for itself in less than 5 years.

2k square feet at around $150 on high end for me mostly during winter. Our house is pretty energy efficient though. I put in some energy efficient windows that seemed to really helped the electric bill. Probably most underrated thing to get it down significantly. The roof also helped after ida I had to get a new one so I went with a metal one with a special coating for that. It's under $100 on some months.

House built in 1845. Run pool pump 12 hrs a day in summer. Bill was 285 this month. gas bill averages around a hundred.

I think mine was about $65 last month. It'll get closer to $100 in the dead of summer. No including gas bill. I average $100 per month total (electric + gas) throughout the year

Inked a 2 year contract at $0.09 / kw-hr back during the start of the plan-demic, when energy prices were extremely low. Just went to see what current contract rates were….$0.22/kw-hr; yep, I’m boned starting August 2. FJB, LGB.

This is us too. Would be a little cheaper if the wife would let us run fans more and bump the AC during the day. But we don’t run fans and keep the AC around 70-71 during the day since we have a lot of windows

+3500sf in ATL area, avg $181.
We are getting a new AC tomorrow, honestly expect that number to drop.
$1000! I'd be locking myself in a room with a window unit.
