But for this 4th of July, we decided to throw our viewers under the fire with a few questions on American history. We took a few questions from the U.S. Citizenship Test and threw in a few of our own.
"Who's the President of the United States?" we asked.
"Donald Trump?" replied Michella Hayes.
"It's Donald Trump," said Landon Wells.
"Donald Trump? Yea, Donald Trump," exclaimed Angela Davis.
But what about the vice president?
"Who's the vice president?" we asked.
"I don't know," said Hayes.
"I don't know that one. Yea I don't know," said Wells, and his father James.
"Can you name one country the U.S. fought against in World War 2?" we asked.
"World War 2? Japan? No. Germany? No,” said Hayes, but after a brief back and forth, “Is it Japan? Yea, it's Japan. Yea it was Japan, because they bombed Hiroshima."
"World War 2? I just studied this. Is it France? No, wait," said Davis.
“Is it Japan? Yep, it’s Japan." said Andrea Davis.

No local news outlet ever puts on someone who knows their shite.

She was probably thinking of the Vichy.
kind of a trick question
It is a holiday. Knowing history is nice but it isn't going to help you in any sort of practical way so leave 'em alone on the holiday like the oher poster said.

Yeah, probably not.

If you were conceived in America does that count or do you have to be born here?
It seems like we’d be better off as a nation if we had people who’s parents had sex in America.

That is giving someone a lot of benefit.

That’s a dumb opinion

I will be honest, I really don’t know who the US fought or who was on our side in either if the world wars.

Yep. For that one interview mentioned in the OP, the news station probably had 5 other interviews of people who correctly answered all the questions.

Not knowing that the Vice President is Mike Pence is pretty embarrassing ,but overall I was expecting way worse.

If you don’t know who the US fought in WWII you are a huge part of the problem. This is how we elect the next hitler one day , lack of common knowledge. Maybe we should deport dumb citizens along with the illegals.

Exploiting people’s lack of common sense is neither funny or entertaining.

To nail probably 95% ask: "And who at the state level is your Representative?"

Not everyone follows politics. And if you don't following it religiously it isn't surprising someone doesn't know Mike Pence is the VP. He is behind the scenes more than the average VP.
It's not like they said some stupid answer like "Don King".

At a minimum you should know the President, Vice President, Speaker of the House, The Congressional Representative from your District, and the 2 Senators from your State. Not knowing the Vice President is embarrassing.
