Oh, it was dumb but I highly doubt there was malice involved. One of the problems being a teacher is you probably have several parents like this every year.

That’s the problem here. Of course the award was given with zero racial motivation, and the mother needs to calm down, but seriously how are you a grown adult in 2022 and the thought doesn’t cross your mind that maybe it’s a bad idea? Could have just as easily given him a “Clown Award” if the teacher had use even a little common sense.

I don't understand the issue. It's Pre-k and monkey, jungle, etc is a major theme in every baby store. Every baby registry I see has some sort of monkey artwork, bedding, stuffed animal, mobile, etc. No one looks at a mobile over a crib and thinks awe, look at the little black babies. This world is so stupid right now.

For the record, I DGAF about this award. I'm as anti-PC as anyone you can name. Best practice for this award would have been to call it the "clown" or "entertainer" or "happy cat" or anyfrickingthing except "monkey" in 2022.

Also would think teacher would be in trouble if she had decided to not consider black kids for award that most kids would love to get at that age.
People call kids monkeys all the time, but the racism that’s ignore is thinking & supporting idea that blacks can’t be treated the same as other kids in group.
This latest victimhood pushed has empowered the unreasonable and ignorant blacks to stay that way. It making kids victims that would have just had fun with it and been a regular student with rest of the kids. Instead of helping black kids it’s making them feel more different than their parents and possibly grand parents felt growing up. White kids are learning black kids have to be treated differently as well. That’s not progress.
