You need a certain amount to satisfy your life style but anything beyond those needs/wants has rapidly diminishing returns.

Money would likely not immediately solve my biggest problem, but it would literally solve EVERY other problem that I have.

Go to a 3rd world country where real poverty exists and you'll find people that are extremely happy without money.

Here in the US, without money you will never be happy.

If your whole existence is driven to make money, sure, it's definitely not going to give you happiness. Now if you have a good life with a happy family, kids, whatever that "happy" means to you, having a lot of money is going to make it way better.

Money is not the key to happiness.

Money can reduce some degree of stress/worry and thereby allow you to appreciate and enjoy the things of greater significance (family, faith, hobbies, etc.) with fewer clouds hanging over your head.

Money can also facilitate things (usually involving family, hobbies, etc.) that bring happiness, but many/most of those can be replicated at lower cost.

Recently read a study that states the amount of money that is necessary for a single person to be happy and maintain a decent life in modern countries is $85k. They found that as income begins to increase, reported overall wellbeing begins to drop. Living a simplified life (no rat race) and being content with the basics was a key driver for happiness. Less stuff you have, the less stuff to worry about.

"You can't take it with you" usually goes in one ear and out the other. Actually think on that and when you realize that whether you believe in Jesus and go to heaven or just die, you will take nothing. Money is fine in and of itself, but I'm having alot more fun making less and enjoying the simple things.

I hate those people who love to tell you
Money is the root of all that kills
They have never been poor
They have never had the joy of
A welfare Christmas

If you were homeless you wouldn’t have people in their life. More suicides with the homeless

I have left several jobs without another. My experience is that if you are unhappy with a job because of a toxic workplace, you owe it to yourself to put yourself in a better position. There is basically no level of income to put up with a workplace that doesn’t promote respect.

Not sure if that’s what you are going through, just want to clarify if that’s why you are unhappy with a job, don’t overthink trying to put yourself in a position you don’t dread

Your situation is more about changing jobs and doing a job you enjoy rather man money. A small cut in pay is not that big of a deal.

“Money does not buy happiest” is a cheesy line. Not having money can’t make you happy either. It’s up to you for happiness.

If you do have money you have way more free time to do the things you enjoy in life rather than selling your time to your employer.
