I don't know what I would do if I had kids today. My SIL's both told me that their daughters have 'online boyfriends.' They are beautiful girls. I would have to be like the CIA on their phones.

As a 60 year old woman, I'm not sure I'd know that. I might try, but I wouldn't just think I could. Most of us have no experience with window units.

You have no idea how young girls think. She had no clue. She just thought he loved her and made her feel important, pretty, cared for, older, etc. Young girls and even young women have no idea how men think. She probably just thought she'd meet him and it would be fun. They'd go do something daring, grown up, etc. She had no clue he was that old...I'd bet. He probably told her he was 18-21 and that made her feel so grown up.
She doesn't know enough to be scared. Even when parents have told her, she believes she knows this guy and that he's not like that.

Definatly, I know OP was not being critical. I doubt my daughter would know to do that and she is 14. She is probably very scared and abused at that point. That window unit may have looked like a 1000lb bolder in her mind. I fell so sorry for this little girl.

I watch too many crime shows so that skews my view.
A young girl like that is prey. You have to watch over them like you would a sheep if you lived in wolf country.
You can never leave them alone. I know the stories are rare but the possible bad outcome is so horrid.

Interesting but I guess not surprising. I have, and I bet half of guys by their mid 40s have, had a couple of close call experiences almost dropping one of those damn things out of a window.
Also, put him in that prison where he had her, no food or water, and relocate a mess of yellow jackets, fire ants, and King cobras in there with him and let nature play out.

Do you always stereotype much? Despite what you might see on the news or internet, most 13 year olds are not doing anything sexual. A good portion of it doesn't even know what a lot of sex stuff is. Get your head out your arse and in the real world around kids that age and you would see things a little differently.
