Dude I'm a Millennial. Most of my friends parents, baby boomers, gave them money for cars, computers, education, bought their houses, spent thousands on weddings, help take care of their kids, help pay for private school.

Your problem is you equate credentialing with education.

Offshoring.

Boomers started out when we had manufacturing. When that declined we had the tech boom.

Now high speed internet is available in s-hole countries so both blue and white collar jobs are exported. Drives wages down because there's always someone willing to work for less. Simple economics.

This thread has been highly entertaining

Milennials say the sky is blue

Boomers and gen x argue the Sky isn’t blue

Well the boomers probably didn’t talk like retards, so that likely helped them coming into the workplace.

yeah, what was special was that you did it in a better economy. That's kinda what the thread is about.

The economy in the early 90s was pure shite. But I didn’t whine and blame it on past generations.

quote:

This is all absolutely true but depending on the economy you could still do all that and end up with 20% less income earned (see thread title) because of getting a late start with a shitty economy.

News flash, Junior... life isn’t fair. There are no promises. You’re not owed jack shite. Life is hard, unforgiving, and will eat you alive if you don’t grow up and realize everything in your life is your responsibility. If you’re looking for pity I guess you should go ask your mommy because nobody else is going to feel bad for you.

None of this is boomers' fault though.

By constantly beating the drum that millennials are the most educated generation.

They’re not. They’re simply the most credentialed. Our current education system is a shell of its former self and you know it.

Plus, people only generally share their positive experiences. That's why we have the OT myth that we are all OT rich.

I summarized a article and used the term 'hoarding' and it really triggered you.

Triggered me? That's rich coming from this whining OP.

quote:

I implied that companies should take less profits and return more to their employees, is that really that hard to grasp?

So it took 8 pages for you to say that?

So you want companies that have Z amount of money, who do an analysis that says they can make X dollars by hiring you or 2X dollars putting that money elsewhere, to make the bad decision for their investments?

They aren't hoarding money. Their money is just better spent elsewhere. You want them to voluntarily take out worse investments. Why? Because you feel entitled to them making a deal with you. You feel entitled to a job opportunity when you aren't worth it.

Make yourself worth employing and they will invest in you instead of investing elsewhere. Because you'll be profitable for them. You can't expect them to invest in you if you aren't profitable for them.

quote:

At no point did I ever say it should come back to me personally or asked for a handout, that is all in your mind.

Explain to me how telling someone what they should do with their own money for your benefit and not theirs is not asking for a handout. Because that's exactly what it is.

That's not a myth.

That all of us are 6'5" tall is a myth. I'm only 6'4" tall. It's been a great source of disappointment.

I’m a millennial but posting this just enhances the stereotype of millennials. My rules of engagement only allow using this data when boomers start talking bad about us.

Supply and demand. Nothing new. Going to say it for the last time to lazy people blaming others for their problems. Get off your high horse you lazy SOB's and take responsible for your self. There is nothing for free unless you live on the front porch.

Sign, one that made it thru life and worked for everything I could to pass on my kids.

They are arguing against statistical data points with emotional talking points, while complaining about statistical factual data being existent

You act like Millennials are the first generation to experience a recession. Those of us who entered the job market in the early 90s were doing so in a recession. Those entering the market in the late 70s and early 80s were doing so in a recession with massive inflation to boot. And all of us are just damn lucky we were not going out for our first job anytime between 1929 and 1941. Those folks would have loved to just been in a recession.
