Or maybe their food sucks? I'd rather go to a local dive for better service, food, and help locals over one of the chains. It's a no brainer for me.

She's an idiot. They don't go because those restaurants suck. Total shitholes. I think a bit less of people's tastes who go to them with any regularity.

Thank you Millenials for killing Applebees!

This all boils down to not having enough discretionary income to afford full service real restaurants!

If I go out to eat, it's usually a place with a fun outdoor atmosphere, tacos(most of the time), and cheap drinks.

Nobody I know my age enjoys going to an indoor place like Applebee's and having dinner.

I can find a quicker and much better dinner in multiple places...that all have great atmospheres.

CEO Sally Smith should try to eat at her restaurant. Food isn't very good.

Buffalo Wild Wings sucks but so does Pluckers. So overpriced, shitty service and kind of a low-class vibe.

I normally blast millennials, but good for them for cooking at home. We have a 20 year old son and a few mid teens and they all do tend to cook rather than go out.I cant speak for all millennials but mine do it mostly because they are broke and lazy.

Tech has made cooking @ home more manageable than before. Things like Tasty & Delish make cooking simple and to the point

I think there is some inaccuracy to this.

How many people go to BWW JUST to eat some chicken wings? Could a place that only serves chicken wings, that offers a bunch of different sauces, become a huge chain if they didn't have a bunch of TVs available for people to go and watch pretty much any sporting event they want?

Personally, I am not a fan of BWW.. The chicken wings are okay, they are not horrible, but they are not like something you can't get anywhere else. The only times I have gone to BWW was to meet some people there to watch a game... Usually NBA playoff games. But I was never like "yes! I am going to buffalo wild wings".

I think people are just getting smarter about chain restaurants. Their model is build around branding, the idea people will go where they are familiar with. But I think people, in general, are becoming more aware that chain restaurants are selling average quality food at an overpriced rate.

Brands such as TGI Fridays, Ruby Tuesday, and Applebee's have faced sales slumps and dozens of restaurant closures, as casual dining chains have struggled to attract customers and grow sales.

I think that more just because their food is terrible.

Amazon is killing them. A lot of these places are located near major retail and less and less people shop there these days.

Gotta love it when companies blame consumers instead of recognizing they expanded too much and have a shitty product.

Very true. Boston Market should be a warning to all. As far as ordering in, with options like Waitr they can adapt. We are doing well with them where I work

Chain restaurants are just glorified TV dinners. People have learned to appreciate independently owned places. Why would anyone pay 14 bucks for some microwaved pasta from Olive Garden when you can buy a papaya salad and pad Thai for the same price?

I have always hated BWW and thought it was crap.

I'm glad that the consensus here is the same and that millennials don't support that shite

All chains are the same. I'll never understand why people don't visit a good local restaurant instead.

because when you are traveling, you don't really know what is a good local restaurant and what is a bad one...

I'm unlike a lot of millennials--I actually like chain restaurants whenever I go.

But that's the issue--I just don't go that often. Hard enough to keep in decent shape, for one. Two, don't eat out that much in general because I'm a cheapskate.

Yelp?
No matter where we are I can yelp a well rated, inexpensive, local place. I can't justify going to a chain over Taco Bell. Same quality.
