Once again, here's my classic modern dining story:
In the '90s I read in USA Today that 25% of all black people in America eat at McDonald's at least once a week.
A few years ago I was eating at a hospital cafeteria. Cliches notwithstanding, the food wasn't bad at all. There was baked chicken and fish. They even had some passable gumbo. Not flavored like a gourmet would insist on (hospitals force you to add your own salt and pepper, for obvious reasons) but certainly edible.
Some black guy was standing near the checkout chatting up the cashier. He finally left, but only after announcing in a loud voice, "I'm goin' to McDonald's and get me sumthin' to EAT!"
BLACK PEOPLE, AM I frickING RIGHT GUYS?

Name stigma is a real thing. Applebee's could change their menu and start serving the best food in the world, but if i told someone i was taking them to Applebee's, they would probably look at me like i was trailer trash.

Chain restaurants are just glorified TV dinners. People have learned to appreciate independently owned places. Why would anyone pay 14 bucks for some microwaved pasta from Olive Garden when you can buy a papaya salad and pad Thai for the same price?
Exactly why I don't like going to chains. They get all thier food either prepared or semi prepared. The food taste fake. Much rather go to a real restaurant with real food for the same price.

I just saw a commercial for Applebees and even their fake photos of food looked disgusting.

It's pretty easy to do a quick search online and read restaurant reviews these days. Or if you're going somewhere and remember seeing a restaurant highlighted on shows like Diners Drive Ins & Dives, etc...

If true, taking out shitty chain restaurants falls somewhere in millennials top 5 greatest achievements.

Anyone who eats at Applebee's is disgusting and no friend of mine

Do millennials like to cook or just prefer to eat (takeout) at home?
More people are staying at home. It's why you see places like taco Bell and McDonalds teaming up with delivery services.
Plus the service sucks at a lot of these restaurants because milinnials are the ones working there.

BWW isn't suffering from ALL millennials, only about 14% of then nationally.

Someone gets it. Not every location will work but most will. Sales may be down overall but they will trend back up. The business cycle exists

Meh. The service sucks at these places partly because of the clientele.

Both chains suck that has nothing to do with millennials

A BWW diet is the prerequisite to becoming a MMA fighter

Ruby Tuesday has a damned fine burger and salad bar.

But I know that BBW sucks. That's a constant. It's better to roll the dice on the variable. Plus, just ask a local. We do this all the time and 9/10 it's a good decision.

Oh for fricks sake. These places have the same millenials working at them as every other table and counter service chain in the country. They are not exclusively staffed by a lower quality of worker. I mean Chick-fil-A and Canes are staffed almost exclusively by millenials and they consistently have the best quality service of any chain restaurants.
Hell, the service at the Applebees in Hammond is light years better than Chilis, but I just don't care for the food at Applebees.

Small chains I'm ok with , like the pappas restaurants in Houston .
But there are so many places to eat around Houston, going to mega chain is just wasting an opportunity to try something new

Isn't this just a sign of millennial revolt for all the years their parents drug them out to these places, strapped them in a chair and fed them a plate of chicken nuggets from the kids menu.
