This post encompasses my three points perfectly. The Millienals are smarter than everyone who came before them and will save the world and the rest of us from our own ignorance and sloth. They're the greatest generation of all time since the dawn of human civilization. They're going to light a fire that will change the world.

I never said we're smarter, but we're certainly more connected to the world at large (growing up with the internet saw to that), and we're certainly more frugal. We don't give a shite about nice cars, homes, or other over-the-top unneccesary objects. Basically the only nice things we want are laptops and cell phones, as well as a place to stay in a decent location, and most of us are pretty good.

Plus with the technology and the knowledge that many of us are very likely to make it to our hundreds, I do think we'll live more in the long term, rather than just thinking things 4 years in advance tops like preceding generations. X and the Millenials won't spend even close to the amount of money as yall did, and will hopefully see the end to many bullshite regulations that only control freaks and old people are for (like the War on Drugs). It's been over 40 years since we last went to the Moon, but your generation really doesn't give a frick and has mortgaged our advancement as a species away from us. Yall have been in charge since the 80s, and have done nothing with the gifts given to you but consumerism. I hope my generation will be much different and actually advance ourselves as a species as your parent's generation did.

We also have a lack for materialism, which I think makes this a near moot point.

To be clear, my generation has done very little. Boomers, however, defeated communism and walked on the moon.

Let me know when your generation does something interesting.

ersonal finance is one thing, but no generation has a solid grasp on economics. We are purposefully taught shitty econ in school so that no one has an understanding of how wealth is created

Agreed. I wasn't trying to compare generations in that respect. I worked in personal finance for a good while. Millenials just don't give a frick

This is the millenial response. And it's a fair frickin' point. Don't minimize this, old frickers. The millenials are right to a degree.

Here's my point to the millenials: You think we suck? Do better. Don't do nothing.

Right, because we are the ones who ran up >$17 trillion in national debt. Gotcha.

I do well for myself financially (in terms of assets, not income), but I attribute that to growing up in a business. It sure as frick wasn't taught in school.

The Boomers never made it to the moon. The oldest Boomers were in their early 20's when Apollo 11 touched down on the surface of the moon. All of the men who went to the moon were born before WWII.

No they did not. Communism defeated itself.

Again. No. Boomers were 18 at the time of the moon landing.

Did you not see whatI said baby boomers weren't good either or did you just read one sentence and try and think that was all that was needed?

But to that point, look at what our generation is doing with regards to education debt. They are already starting a bad trend (yes baby boomers can be blamed for some of this as well)

I'm just saying I feel pretty confident our generation isn't going to get in massive debt over a housing crisis in something they can't afford at all, or go by outrageous cars. Anything expensive our generation buys, they can usually afford it and it's practical.

I'm the same, however finance/Econ are my passions. I just don't see the desire to care about those types of things yet in this generation. Luckily, there is plenty of time for them to change.
