So like many on here I am not the best looking guy and to compound this I am not very outgoing. I got invited to New Year’s Eve party by a couple of my coworkers. I have a huge crush on one of the girls so I really wanted to impress her. Not being the best looking guy I decided to go the funny route in order to win her heart. I dressed up as Ace Ventura and was doing his impressions. This did not go as planned and no one really laughed. I was naturally very uncomfortable at this point and went to the bathroom several times even though I didn’t really have to go. At one point to the host (I’d never met him) pulled me aside and in a joking way told me to drop the act and that I was making people uneasy. Spent the rest of the time just standing in on convos dressed like ace venture until I left well before midnight.

Now I’m at work and have yet to see the coworkers who invited me and honestly I don’t want to face them. What should I do? Is there anyway I can just play it off as a big joke?

This can't be real life. No one is this socially inept.

None of this is true. You sat at home in your underwear and browsed reddit while crying

Don’t bring it up. Making people uneasy is a bit of a stretch

Why would you dress up for a New Years party?

Yes, but it will require dressing up as ace for every work day this year.

Start running these ideas by someone first. Just say yeah, my bad when you see them. Get over it.

Oh wow...you should have floated this idea to the board before doing it. At this point you should probably tell everyone were really high and don’t remember anything.
