Boats are awesome
Motorcycles are awesome
Buy 2-3 years old but hardly used and you won’t regret that, I can afford new but that’s a fool’s choice

Sold a ski boat for a used 23' pontoon. Has only been in the shop once for regular maintenance. Paid $7,600 for it in 2018. We use it every weekend for 4-5 months, so all the blowhards can bite it. Buy used, just bring a friend who knows what they are doing if you don't know boats / motors.
On the other hand, new jet ski prices are reasonable - bought one last year that can pull a skier.
BTW, I do not consider a tractor or zero turn a toy. A man needs these items, especially if you have any land.
I've bought lotsa toys over the years that are worth the money. All for cash of course as I'm a Boomer and plan / save for my purchases.

I’m waiting for the day when my husband brings home a boat.

This was strong in the list but I don’t know how much I’d enjoy it

Get a dirt bike and hit the woods. Maintenance isn’t bad and it’s a blast.

Share what toys you bought.
It says so on my kindergarten report card.
And, regardless, you are not the boss of me.

Please report on what you find are the 2 best days as a boat owner.
The best day was when I bought it. It got better every time i loaded it with fish. I sold it when covid hit because i could make 10%, and I lost my free boat slip.
Now I just sit at my house watching fishing shows all weekend, waiting on a friend to invite me. Selling that boat was stupid. frick me.

This is my plan. My travel trailer has a long tongue with two bicycle racks on it. I'm going to take them off and mount a single motorcycle rack. I just want a little 250-300cc enduro to explore on. I figure I can see 20 times the amount of stuff on a bike vs. hiking.

Have been able to hold of urge for boat. New golf cart was my last fun purchase.

21' Mako Center Console, get it in the water enough to float off the trailer. Get out to unhook the eyebolt and push the boat over to the dock on the side of the launch.
The truck is leaning backwards and obviously running. When I get out of the truck, I inadvertently hit the power lock button as the door is swinging shut behind me.
So I was locked out of the running truck which was totally blocking one of the launches.
Fortunately vehicles nowadays with fobs don't allow this to happen.
tl/dr: If you have a vehicle with a ignition key & power locks, roll down your window when you are launching a boat.

golf clubs, BJJ Gi.
I just bought a new Fiji gi. Been forever since I bought one.
I got a set of new clubs ironically in Monroe when I moved back home briefly in 2018. I see you are in North LA as well. Set of Apex's. Bought them at Cajun Made.
Where do you train BJJ? When I lived in Monroe I trained at Kron Gracie's school in West Monroe. I knew the previous owner pretty good. Also would roll with some guys from North Monroe BJJ that trained at the MAC. There is some good jits up there.

Biggest mistake you can make. As for maintenance annual cost is about 10% of the value of the boat and that doesn't include operating cost. From someone who knows.
Make friends with someone with a boat or join a boat club where you can rent.

If you don’t buy toys you can never reach the point where you realize that none of that stuff really matters
Enjoy but don’t get attached
