They're out over their skis if they think AI can replace a well-versed historian. The whole purpose of being a historian is collecting archival data and interview data that isn't accessible by the general public or AI.
And then synthesizing that information into rational arguments, providing context to our world.
I am guessing the people who made this list think history is just "who won the 1828 election?" or "how many people died at Antietam?"

OK, now I can get behind this AI idea and give it my full support. If it’s going to weaken or destroy the Teachers Mafia, I mean Union excuse me, then I have zero reservations about it.

It's all good. There will be... uh... jobs... of some sort...
We can create... uh... universal basic income. That worked so well when we called it welfare, right? People will be happy living in condemned government housing listening to gunshots outside their door all night. And eating out of gas stations for the rest of their lives. Progress, baby!

Customer service and sales representatives—which make up about 5 million jobs in the U.S.—are also highly vulnerable to being replaced by AI.

SEVEN years ago, google demo'd their AI tech
where you could talk to their version of Siri... and be like "hey google make me an appointment" or type it on the app.
And AI google would call said business for you, and talk to the person, and once your appointment was made would tell you in the app and add it to your calendar.
It was so frighteningly good the public at that time wasn't ready for it and they walked it back.

I wouldn’t say centuries but definitely for decades. You nor I can even imagine what androids will be able to do in centuries. It’ll be Blade Runner by then

I really hope AI generated this report

having dealt with AI in statistics, modeling, etc....
AI is still light years away from programming stuff that's not a nest of debugging problems and optimization issues.
It provides a good start for junior developers or maybe even senior developers branching out into new fields or areas of research.
I can see why statistician assistant is listed...and data scientists...but not senior data scientists....this would mainly affect junior folks or people trying to break into the field...which is already hard enough with a college degree

I see several manufacturing companies using AI for maintenance schedules that are predicting failures/breakdowns. If they really hone in on that, it could reduce a large amount of service calls. New installs wouldn’t be affected I presume. But safe for centuries is shortsighted.
