We have a candy and cookie making party every year. All of that starts tomorrow. Getting my cattle fed early so I can watch bowl games and eating Christmas candy and cookies all day. Might gain 5 lbs tomorrow.

Me too! I ruin a batch about every 3rd year. Some years the weather in Houston is never good enough to make it.

I see you are a fan of the tenderloin. Au jus, homemade horseradish sauce, or both?

So interesting that you make it in the microwave. I have never done that. I always make it in the big foil pans in a slow oven until the butter mixture has dried up.

Try the microwave. It's foolproof and you can knock out a ton of batches in a hurry.

I stuff it with garlic cloves. Squeeze 3 limes on it in a foil boat, wrap it and let it sit overnight in the fridge. The next morning I rub it down with olive oil, and season with black pepper and salt.

Get the grill on high and burn each side for 5 minutes. Don't panic, it's supposed to crust and be burnt.

Turn all but one burner off and move tenderloin to the cool side. Let the farthest burner run on low for about 45 minutes.

Pull and let it rest 15 minutes.

That's it.

My mom made cheese sticks and sausage balls. Thanks for bringing back memories. She also made these awesome peppermint Santa Clause candies. She painted the hat red with a toothpick.

Interesting, I bake mine at 250 Degrees for 1 hours to get it really toasted and crispy. May I suggest you buy those little butter crackers the bit size ones and add them to the mix, they are awesome.

One day the week before Xmas, I take a few kids and usually another adult or two to a local bar where watch some of a bowl game and have lunch/drinks while the kids play old school arcade games. Then hit up the Alabama Theater for a holiday matinee. Have done Elf, a Grinch/Charlie Brown/Rudolph triple header, Vaction, or some other movie. This year is it Home Alone.

If you are ever in Bham from mid-December through Christmas, definitely check out a movie at the Alabama. I always have a great time.

I drink bourbon, watch Die Hard, then jerk off and fall asleep.

Not too different from any other night.

Please don't remind me.
Don't get me wrong, I love the holiday season but hate having to visit relatives houses and for some reason myself, wife, and two young kids end up running around to everyone else's house. I think this may be the year where I say frick it. I am staying home from Friday-Monday.
