I need to see what an $85,000 bass boat looks like.
That’s nothing
A loaded 22’ Ranger will push 120K and a Basscat Jaguar with a Merc 450R will set you back @130K

the verado 600 v12 is like $77k
There’s a ridiculous 52 foot HCB with four of those on it.
I don’t even want to know the fuel burn at WOT.

Mercury was always known as the "black anchor." Never made a solid lower unit and water pump.

I spend a lot of stupid money on a lot of stupid shite but if I ever spend 77k on an outboard, shoot me.
Can I have the engine after? And would you be willing to have this all in writing and then notorized?

a single verado V8 burns about 30 gallons per hour
so...right at $200 per hour.
We're starting to get into aircraft per hour costs...

Hopefully being trimmed up when it rains doesn’t brick the power heads like it does on the v8 300s

If it gets more than 8mpg they are doing better than my RV with a v10!
They can't defy physics...
That actually doesn't look like a bad price either for what you get.

Money ain't usually an object to the people that buy the boats those things are attached to... and it won't be just one motor either.

Will be outlawed by 2030. Need to develop a E outboard. V10 is a throwback.

These engines are being used on boats that would have traditionally used inboard diesel. Check the prices of two diesels vs 4 outboards.
And, are more efficient in a yacht type application. Diesels are inherently more efficient than gas but the weight and ability to vector thrust axis makes up for it. Top and cruise speeds are higher. The new high end sport fish boats are going more and more to big center consoles.
42’ Freeman is the new Viking for serious blue water fisherman.

Bass Cat Cougar
You may be able to talk him down to $85,000

What size diesel? 10-15k for 300hp diesel inboard
LINK
So two diesels equaling 30k and 600hp
One 600hp outboard for 77k
Seems inboard is cheaper. Granted you have to add the out drive but thats what 10k tops? Still come out ahead and Diesel engine will way outlast a 4 stroke outboard

And that’s just one. Imagine 3-4 of them on a boat. Although I think 30 gal an hour is running wide open

You’ll see 1mpg cruise at best with those.
shite I average 1.3mpg with triple 300’s

The line between have and have not's is bigger than it's ever been. This is one more example of that.
